Cleopatra
For how long now have people been complaining about nothing being done about illegal immigrants in the Uk? Well, seems like the UK Border Agency recently decided to get up off their derriers and rounded up 139 suspected offenders and in doing so have caused a storm with claims of them being racist, Migrant's rights groups have said the illegals should be allowed to stay in the country and have accused the Home Office of turning the country into a hostile environmeent. If they are illegal they are illegal and should be sent back from whence they came.
Eagle
Can't argue with that.
Davy51
Maybe it's about time the Race Relations Act was abolished if it is interfering with border security issues.
algy
Too many 'do-gooders' in this country, if people are here that should not be here kick 'em out.
observer
Thought it was only me who raises this issue, according to Kije ?! Think the public need to be better informed as to what actually happens when these "illegal" immigrants are caught, it's rather like course fishing, you catch them, then throw them back in the water. The complaints about the UKBF, were about alleged racial profiling, which in the past, would have referred to suspicious characters.
Davy51
Just been reading in the paper about a court case just finished in Manchester where it has been estimated that as many as 250 illegals from Bangladesh had come in at a cost to each of them of between £10 /14000 , all entitled to the full range of UK benefits ,many of which the working British are ineligible for . May be the best way to get rid of the illegals is to get rid of the lot then they can apply legally to come to the UK.
Lt Kije
What paper was it Davy, can you post a link
Bazj
come on Kije.... Google is our friend http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2383868/Bogus-ID-gang-let-250-Bangladeshi-immigrants-exploit-UK-benefits-gold-mine.html
observer
As I understand it, these illegals are arrested, released on police bail pending a court appearance - but then disappear rather than appear in court. Even the ones that do stay on the radar, will make an appeal for asylum, and with the UKBF backlog, some then remain here for ten years or more. Seems the politicians just can't bring themselves to bring in a law(s), to enable immediate deportation following arrest. If, the illegal pleads asylum, then s/he can be deported to the next nearest country, to that of their original home. btw Baz, wonder if their arrest was due to racial profiling?! Lt Kije
Right so they had counterfeit documents to enable them to claim.
Bazj
Right so they had counterfeit documents to enable them to claim. and? The fact that they can get the benefits (If they have the right documents; counterfeit or not) is typical of the UK
Freeborn John
Right so they had counterfeit documents to enable them to claim. Of course they did, there is a large and well organised industry which specialises in the lucrative business of getting a British passport for people with no claim to one whatsoever. Forged documents? Easy peasey!
Lt Kije
So you are not bothered if UK citizens are using counterfeit documents to claim benefits? And Do you think more illegal immigrants are claiming falsely or UK citizens, and which do you find worse?

Davy51
On the other hand though there must be some pretty desperate people in these countries if they are spending so much money to come here with no guarantee of success.....but if they do get in the streets surely are paved with gold.
