observer
Stephen Hester steps down from RBS, with an estimated Golden Parachute worth £4.5million !
Davy51
Obscene ,he will no doubt walk straight into another job.
observer
All in it together? Contrast this example of a Banker's reward, when we're now being told that real wages for the Prols has been cut over the last ten years by pay restraint. Lt Kije
Contrast that with Pensioners as well Obs
observer
Hester certainly gets more than a pensioner !
asperity
I believe he was pushed rather than jumping, however I'd be willing to get pushed for that sort of pay-off
Davy51
Asp ,you could buy your own telescope & a boat to go with it with Hester's pay off ! They were speculating on the news that a sell off might be on the cards but haven't they tried that already ?
observer
Shares in the 20% of RBS have already fallen, due to this news, hardly good news if they (the Tories) plan to privatise it, and "get our money back".
Antisthenes
RBS shares are now plummeting - down 7% today to 281p. I would imagine we'll have to wait a couple more years before the bank is seen as stable.
observer
The problem is, can we trust the Gov to have the patience to wait for the situation to improve, however long it takes; so they could actually make a profit on a sale for the taxpayer for once? Lt Kije
Is Nigel Farage in it with the rest of us, in light of his tax affairs. Talk about a breath of fresh air in UK politics, Looks like same old to me.
observer
Wondered how long it would take you?! Just another example of the politico-media establishment trying to discredit the Leader of a Party that has a resonance with ordinary folk, thus upsetting their cosy do-nothing concensus.
Lt Kije
Discredit, Come on Obs, he has admitted to it, he is not any different to anybody else is politics, its ME,Me,Me. So voting for him is not any different, He has just flushed the smell of fresh air away. He is, and always was a political crony no different from the rest, your just pissed as you were taken in Never mind at least some on here new what he was from the beginning, and you could learn from them, us
observer
It's you that's miffed, cos folk have turned to the UKIP message; so now your trying to destroy the messenger. Frankly, on a personel level, he's probably no better or worse than the rest of the political class; but I won't be voting for HIM. I'll be voting for his Party's policies. Half the Tory hierarchy are at it; and didn't the Labour Party recently get found out, accepting shares in lieu of cash, as a tax dodge for a sponsor?!
Lt Kije
As I said, he is no different from the rest of the political class, I think over the next few months more dirt will come out as people start to check him out.
observer
So? He's no different, so what? I want "out of the EU", "out of the ECHR", and a tight grip on immigration - perhaps you could name the saint like parties that support those objectives?
Lt Kije
You spend most of your time on here ripping the political class, and when your anti hero turns out to be a card carrying member, it all goes up in smoke, are you saying you now like the political class, he was your breath of fresh air.
observer
You don't seem able to grasp the fact, that in politics, it's the policies you vote for not (if your rational) personalities. The last bloke who entered public life without any personal character flaws, was crucified by the Romans! Again, "HE" (Farage) wasn't anything, other than the Leader of a Party that has some policies that conform to my views, hence my voting preference. Unlike yourself, apparently, I have no illusions about the political class.
Lt Kije
I never have Obs, but you certainly did when you fell head over heals or should that be hook, line and sinker for Mr Farage
observer
Not Farage - UKIP, big difference. But I'm still waiting for you to name the politician or Party that's whiter than white.
Lt Kije
When I or We find that politician Obs, I know what the ending will be "And they all lived happily ever after"
Antisthenes
I am sure more 'stories' will pop up at strategic points in the national media in an attempt to discredit Mr Farage and his party because they actually represent views of the unrepresented and our establishment (political and media) ain't too keen on change. Why would a democracy allow its electorate a whiff of democracy? The leaders of the three 'acceptable' parties don't just look the same and sound the same but everything they do IS the same. Let's demand more and change something!
asperity
The Establishment seems to be very worried about UKIP considering that we are asked to believe it consists of a load of nutcases led by a hypocritical buffoon.
Evil Sid
Whereas we KNOW the other parties consist of a load of nutcases led by buffoons.
Lt Kije
The media are only doing to him what they have dine for years to others in our political class, and yes their will be more to come out, bi put I don't think he is being picked on.
