Thin end of the wedge?

Recommended Posts

From the Daily Telegraph:

"Mr Cameron is anxious to make sure people can also face criminal charges if they are found to have rigged the oil price and driven up prices for consumers. However, the Government is still seeking to establish whether any new laws could be applied retrospectively."

Do we really want the government to be able to criminalise people for doing something that was perfectly legal at the time they did it? This could be the thin end of a very large revenue raising wedge!

As for the price of fuel, the government rigs the price every budget day when the chancellor adds more duty to it!!!

So price rigging was legal then?

If, in this case, they would have to change the law to make it illegal then, OBviously it must have been!
