Cleopatra
Was it, after all, a good idea to introduce sex education lessons into the school curriculum when we are now seeing children as young as 14 being arrested on charges of rape? Teach children about sex and the pleasures of sex and a pound to a pinch of **it they are going to want to indulge as soon as opportunity arises, especially boys. When I was at school ** years ago, we did not have sex education. Granted there was still the odd case of underaged pregnancy, which would be kept hushed up as much as possible, but not nearly on the scale that there are today. Eagle
I doubt they are taught the pleasures of sex, surely it will be basic functions and consequences. It is the Internet that is more responsible for young rapists.
Nick Tessla
I don't believe that sex education per se leads to earlier sexual experiences. A bigger problem is the exposure to sexual imagery - outside the classroom - particularly violent sexual imagery (and song lyrics), where women are there to be used - with little thought to their consent. Bazj
Talking about women being used abused and ignored; did anyone see the Panorama episode the other night about the Sharia councils in Britain?... talk about an eye opener..... Davy51
I think the main point of sex education is to have safe sex & to guard against unwanted pregnancies by using contraception. I am sure it is a better to have sex education than just throw the errant single mother into a lunatic asylum like in the good old days. To be honest i am sure one of the best ways to turn boys off the thought of random sex would be to explain the power of the CSA to them. observer
All the power of the advertising media, often aided and abetted by parents, is aimed at denying kids a childhood; plus easy access to pornography and grooming sites on the internet; so no surprises really. Cleopatra
Do I hear the sound of thin ice cracking - or is it Cleo's teeth gnashing? Maybe thin ice crackig but not my teeth gnashing. I took Mohamed's advice and let it sail over my head.

Nick Tessla
No, sorry to disappoint you. Not disappointed - just a bit confused as you seem quite adamant about such matters. You didn't mean the prophet then, my apologies for the misunderstanding. Just some random Mohamed, I guess.
Lt Kije
I saw it Baz, Cleo, nothing for you to worry about, just some stupid Muslim men telling Muslim women who had been beaten by their husbands not to tell the police, they had set up their own sharia courts. The sooner they are shut down the better.

Evil Sid
To be honest i am sure one of the best ways to turn boys off the thought of random sex would be to explain the power of the CSA to them. E.G. None what so ever. Not having seen the latest sex education curriculum I cannot say if it is appropriate or not. When I were a lad the sex education consisted of the chemistry teacher spending about ten minutes going over the details of how the little wriggly things swam up to the odd looking egg thingy and about thirty seconds of the actual mechanics of the thing. That bit basically consisted of "men do it with women but you are too young so don't." Which now gets to topic back to the original post of sex education and not the usual sniping at whomever. P J
According to some things I have read by more enlightened folk than me Aisha was betrothed to Muhammad at the age of six and the marriage was consummated when she was nine years old.
