Cleopatra
Seen one of these in your garden Geoffrey? It's a hoopoe bird, once considered sacred in ancient Egypt. Was flying around our house for a few weeks last year but seems it realised it was the only one of his kind in the area and must have flown off to look elsewhere because it just suddenly disappeared. Dizzy
I've not seen any birds today. We don't get them in your back garden anyway but we usually see some at the front where the trees are on the canal but not a damn thing
algy
Cleo, they do visit England along the south coast in spring and autumn most years, don't breed here though.

algy
They'd be in for a hell of a shock if they did!, it's raining and blowing and cold here at the moment, the only good thing is that it is slowly melting the snow.
Cleopatra
Did you all get your arks built or did you all waste time building snowmen and having snowball fights?
algy
No arks for me Cleo, the only traces of the snow is a dwarf snowman on next doors garden and he was about a metre high yesterday, the rain has seen it all off.
Dizzy
Well I failed miserably again Geoff and my sheet is empty. I did see 3 wood pigeons fly over but I guess they don't count as they didn't land
algy
In the rear garden this morning (out this afternoon). 1 Female Chaffinch, 1 *Greenfinch, 1 Robin, 1 Blue tit, 1 Great tit, 1 Coal tit, 3 Wood pigeons.1 Dunnock and 1 Pillock spotting.* Unusual to get 1 greenfinch as they usually attack the feedeer half a dozen at a time. Mary
Man I have got to get a better camera - I have seen a pair of hairy woodpeckers, a cardinal and several grackles. I am waiting for the wild parrots to come back~
Cleopatra
Oh my Mary! If my thoughts were not so pure, that would sound so dirty - a pair of woodpeckers, a cardinal and some grackles. One might wonder what they were doing? An orgy maybe? profound apologies Mary
