Cleopatra
Has John Dwyer, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, made himself popular among the rank and file officers of the police force, those frontline defenders of the public who go out every day not knowing what dangers they may have to face during the course of their work. This man, this pen-pusher who is on a nice little earner at 75,000 per annum has told the minions beneath him who face a pay cut and in future will earn only 19,000 per annum, some 56,000 less than he will be paid himself for sitting in his cosy little office, that they should think themselves lucky they don't work for HMV and they have a job. The right way to start a new job?
P J
I suppose they are more fortunate than the HMV workers about to lose their jobs.

The right way to start a new job? Good post Cleo, and No he hasn't made himself popular. He recently appointed an experienced deputy (more expense) in a 12 month role to “ enable him to fully understand the scope of this new and challenging role and to see how the Government’s proposals for the role continue to evolve.” Seems that he doesn't need 12 months to act out the governments wishes, and neither do we need Police commissioners.
