sadako
Part of it, is to encourage fathers to remain with the mother and child throughout the labour and during the first few hours of birth. Most fathers end up leaving the mother to rest. This initiative means they can stay, bond and help out....or could it be to encourage the fathers to help to bring the labour on? Peter T
But that would mean he couldn't go out to wet the babies head with his mates!!!
sadako
To be honest, there would be loads of women that would still opt for the single bed. Â Girls....what would you choose? Â Boys...if you had a choice?
asperity
When my son was born I was on board a ship in the North Sea. I got some stick from the nursing staff though

Cleopatra
All my children were born on a double bed, at home, and himself never got a chance to lie on it for at least a couple of weeks after. He had to sleep in another room by himself.
observer
So how did all this "bonding" buisiness work then?!
Cleopatra
Nature took it's course.
Evil Sid
In answer to obs original question, Maybe the thinking is that as they were presumably conceived in a double bed then they should be born in one.
asperity
Slightly flawed thinking there Sid. Could end up with a ward full of Mondeos
algy
I've been giving this topic a wide berth (or should that be 'birth') as I thought the title was 'Double Beds in Matrimony'.
observer
Just wondering what all this "bonding" is all about, when nowadays, kids seem to see mom and dad splitting up?
Cleopatra
And many kids never know who their dad is even.

observer
Wouldn't they need to DNA test the potential Fathers, to decide who gets the bed?!
