Food prices?

Recommended Posts

Of course the fact that 40% of the corn is used in the production of ethanol to add to gasoline (making it less efficient but allegedly more "green"   )would have no effect on food prices would it? The adding of ethanol to gasoline is mandatory in the US by the way, pushed onto the statute books by the "environMENTAL" lobby

This is true Lt Kije, but it doesn't change the fact that burning 40% of your crop in motor vehicles is certain to make the cost of corn rise does it? <_< <_<

Corn is also grown to feed animal stock,

The future of life on earth depends on our ability to take action. Many individuals are doing what they can, but real success can only come if there's a change in our societies and our economics and in our politics. I've been lucky in my lifetime to see some of the greatest spectacles that the natural world has to offer. Surely we have a responsibility to leave for future generations a planet that is healthy, inhabitable by all species."

David Attenborough

Wise words

Actually the topic is food prices. And if you think about it, higher food prices should result in less meat being eaten

They're blaming the US drought for an increased demand for wheat as an altermnative to maize, but there's a wheat shortage anyway, due (they claim)to the UK floods - which will increase bread prices. :(
