The fact that the Southeast is receiving more than its fair share of the unfettered immigration has no bearing on the fact that it is facing water shortages I suppose Lt Kije?

Asp, are you saying their in a link, between immigration and lack of water in the south east of England :?:

Could be a factor as the increase in consumption is not being offset by an increase in water levels.

I would say it was obvious. If you try and fit more people into an area with a history of water shortages (and lets face it this is not a new phenomenon in the Southeast) then things can only get worse. And you have to admit that a lot of the immigration is into that part of the country. Sometimes 1 plus 1 does equal 2

It seems that water use has been growing at more than twice the rate of population increase in the last century, so Asp has a point.

Yes water use has been growing, more people with dishwashers ect, The south east have been draining their aquifers for years and not replacing the water. Besides immigration they also have migration as people from the north go looking for jobs. The south east is also sinking. You will be saying its because of the weight of all the immigrants next.

Actually the Southeast is sinking because of isostatic rebound from the last ice age (the removal of that weight of ice from the northern half of the island is causing the north to rise and the south to sink). But at least you aren't denying that immigration (from anywhere) is contributing to the lack of water in that area. We'll get you into the real world eventually Lt Kije

If their was no migration or immigration to the South East, they would still have a water shortage. The changing climate is dropping less rain their!
