observer
Qatada was wanted by his own Country, Jordan, to face charges of terrorism - seems to me that anyone should be returned to their home Country for such matters to be resolved - after all, seems the Yanks can extradite anyone they like, so why not the Jordanians?! observer
Notice we've actually extradited someone from the Domincan Republic - that chap who funded the LibDems. Wonder if he'll appeal to the ECHR for being dragged off a sunny beach?!
Lt Kije
He would have a case, If he could not get a fair trail in the UK Obs, are you insinuating that our justice system is not up to scratch.
observer
If he got a bad press, he might claim he'd been subject to "cruel and inhuman treatment"!
Lt Kije
Going off topic a bit, I agree Obs. Some trails have collapsed due to the press. I think their is a case to stop the press from reporting on trials until they are over.
observer
Quite the opposite alas, they're now bringing in TV coverage of all trials - hope the jury will be allowed ski masks!

Cleopatra
Qatada's application to appeal was denied by the ECHR yesterday, even though it was made within the 3 months limit (just). Qatada will be jetted off to Jordan without further delay? No! His lawyers are taking his case through the British courts now, which could take many months. Evil Sid
one way to ensure that he will not be tortured is to send his lawyers over with him to keep an eye on things.
