observer
Does exporting our sheep and cattle to France, on the hoof, for slaughter; to be immediatley imported as meat - count as "trade"?
Geoffrey Settle
I'd have thought yes it's part of a chain. Â The only reason I can think they they do this is because it's cheaper to slaughter them abroad - have our slaughter houses closed down or become too expensive. Are they better at killig than we are? Â When the meat comes back in from Europe in what form does it come back in?
observer
...... or does it indicate some form of EU financial inducement, to do it?
Geoffrey Settle
hmmmm could be - so why aren't we getting our slice?
observer
It's not "we", but those involve - wasn't there a scam involving the import/export of mobile phones a while back, some form of VAT scam?
Bazj
hmmmm could be - so why aren't we getting our slice? Â probably because we aren't France or Germany I suppose!
asperity
Our slaughterhouses closed down after EU regulations were, as usual, gold plated by our own civil service, making them uneconomical against the relatively unregulated European competition. Europe still needs us whether we are in their little club or not. Obviously they want us in the club and paying our subs, but is it worth our freedom?
Peter T
Nick Kije, have you proof that are exports would stop?
Lt Kije
Peter, we would be outside the free trade zone, our exports to the EU would not be competitive as we would be paying a levee to trade into it. Â It is not a coincidence that most people working in the city and most leading manufactures want us in the EU
observer
You mean, that the EU don't believe in the liberal economics of "free trade", but are in fact protectionist?!
Lt Kije
Free trade zones are for members only Obs
