observer
Fuel poverty is directly linked to price - and due to the intervention of the green lobby and our dependence on insecure imports - the price is due to rise considerably. asperity
Not at all, my mind is not closed to evidence, as yours is  And there we will have to agree to differ. As I've told you before, just because you say something doesn't make it true
Lt Kije
But we can agree that your mind is closed

asperity
Like I said, just because you say something doesn't make it right, and repeating it doesn't make it right either. You can offer that as your opinion of me if it makes you happy in your own mind, but your opinion is only worth anything if you have the knowledge to back it up which, in this case, you don't have.
Lt Kije
You could not be bothered to read fugs evidence, you just had a shot at one of the papers it came from, When it comes to news papers I don't think their are any sides when it comes to energy. Â It comes from having a closed mind
Bazj
Mum had confirmation of the cold weather payment last week.....£300.00 which will more than cover the uplift in the gas bills for the winter months....

You caricature me if it makes you happy Lt Kije, but you are really only wasting your time and mine.
fugtifino
...and had a good chuckle over a lot of it... Â Of course you did, that's a lot easier than, y'know, engaging with the debate and refuting any of the points made.
asperity
A little bit pointless trying when you've already made up your mind that you're right and that I'm easily impressed by oil companies

asperity
How about some wind farm reality to compare to shale gas extraction: Â Â Which is better, shale gas which private companies will extract without government (taxpayer) subsidy, or windmills which don't work (there are 14000 abandoned windmills in the USA) and require massive government (taxpayer)subsidy to supply an intermittent amount of electricity?
observer
The UN are now telling us, that the increase in global temperatures (which imo they can do nowt about anyway), will increase sea levels, with more frequent extreme weather incidents incl flooding. Think they're talking about the displacement of around 250million folk - wonder where they'll be heading, aside from higher ground? Sure Kije will have the welcome mat out! Cleopatra
Bugger off! You are dictated to by the european parliament and everyone knows that, apart from you, apparently.
asperity
Wrong. The European Parliament is dictated to by the (unelected) European Commission
Cleopatra
Same difference, it's not the market that's dictating.
observer
Who all respond to "market" pressures, such that, we've now got unelected PMs and Cabinets in both Italy and Greece, and austerity budgets throughout.
