observer
In the usual tit for tat politics, our MP is warning pensioners that they'll be getting a ?50 drop in their winter fuel allowance - wow. Well, with an estimated ?1,000pa drop in living standards generally due to inflation and cuts, ?50 doesn't seem too bad. But perhaps she needs to look at the general disparity between rich and poor, when the wealth gap blossomed under 15 years of (new) Labour. Peter T
That wouldn't suit the rhetoric. Glad to see she has caught up as the info was out a few months ago.

Lt Kije
But perhaps she needs to look at the general disparity between rich and poor, when the wealth gap blossomed under 15 years of (new) Labour. observer
nope Kije, I don't think it will decrease under the Tories, the LibDems or Labour - like many other issues, they're not about resolving fundementals - just getting elected into their career paths. Bazj
nope Kije, I don't think it will decrease under the Tories, the LibDems or Labour - like many other issues, they're not about resolving fundementals - just getting elected into their career paths. Â and when their UK career paths are finished, off they trot onto the EU gravy train to milk some more public cash...... Kinnock, Kinnock and Kinnock are proof of that! P J
I'd just like to point out that there are twice as many Tory MEPs on "the EU gravy train to milk some more public cash" than Labour MEP's

Is it literacy or comprehension you are struggling with Peter?
Peter T
PJ. I cannot read or write, so please make allowances. I didn't see the point that you were making about there being more Tory MEP's than Labour unless it was to wind Baz up. IMO there shouldn't be any. Written by my ghost writer. P J
I think we would both agree that the last thing Baz needs is winding up.
Lt Kije
Peter  You could have held up Baz, making a quibble about Kinnock, but you did not, then when Pj makes the point about they're being more Tories on the take and you pull him up  Looks like politics to me:wink:
Bazj
Kije, Â part of my problem with the Labour party and its upper echelons is that when they are on the way up, they bang on about their working class roots and their heritage and all that equality nonsense, but given the opportunity, they grab the golden chalice with both hands. They are as quick to jump on the money band wagon as any tory, but they constantly accuse the tories of greed. Â In a lot of ways, the likes of Prescott getting his fat little hands on everything he probably fought against and hated when he was young is quite disgusting and shows that beneath the surface they are no different to their political enemies
Peter T
Wot Baz says. Kije, I was 1. asking a question. 2. explaining why I asked the question. Â Perhaps the difference is that Labour politicians seem to get more publicity (Kinnock and Blair) which is against the ethics of the old Labour Party and the ideals of the working class. The Tories have normally been associated with wealth. Â But just think Kije. Leave the common market and it will all stop. Â I do think it is appalling when our ex cabinet members can go on the talk circuits when they have actually achieved very little. Just what has Blair done apart from involve us in 6 wars?
Lt Kije
I think you will find Maggie did the same thing Peter, but again no criticism from you, I might be wrong but I think Maggie was the first to do it, a book tour and speeches round the USA. Â As to Labour getting more publicity, You only have to go back a few days to Den Dover ex toy MEP
Bazj
At least Maggie won her war!
Peter T
Maggie did show the world how to sort out the militants union wreckers. Â And it could be argued that she sorted out the mess that Labour left. Perhaps we need her back to do it again. Â You can include any of them in what I am saying including ex-presidents, but for Socialists (Red Tories really) to do it and Blair was doing in when in office with his shady property deals, goes against the ethics of Labour. How much money do these career politicians need? Blair didn't need any money to go on holiday.
observer
Unfortunately, the vast majority are all career politicians, without an ounce of conviction - notice they've just weakened the rules on their expenses - they have a licence to print money. They're the same beast, just the titles are different, Kier Hardy would be turning over in his grave.
Bazj
Why was the title changed to Mrs Jones from Vobe?
observer
It's trendy feminism not to take on the name of your husband or endure the title Mrs. Wonder if we'll have a Mrs Millipede in May?!
