disgusted
I think people have been avoiding it. The only time I plough up Cromwell now is when I have forgotten to go through town, not a route I would have ever considered by choice before, but one which is quicker than the 25 minutes weekend queues around Asda. Legion
their next solution will be to install further lights at the roundabouts preceding this one in either direction to stagger the infux of traffic sorry for giving them ideas

Bazj
of course there is another consequence of the lights. By putting a physical barrier in the middle of the road to prevent cars turning right into ASDA from Westbrook Crescent, they are therefore sending traffic further up to the next roundabout where the school is. Cars will not double back and will take the shortest route into ASDA which is past the school. Something which was seen as a no-no when the ASDA expansion was discussed a few years ago. The other consequence I mentioned is that cars will by the same score not be able to turn right out of ASDA onto Westbrook Crescent and they will only be able to turn left, wait at the lights, turn right, go to the next roundabout, come back down Cromwell, sit in the traffic lights queue, turn left and head off towards the seven woods pub...... like that is going to happen!! They will go through the car park and straight out next to and past the school.. and we actually pay these prats!!

Paul Kennedy
Done. It will be interesting to see how many other Warrington Councillors sign up. Alas the money that has been used to install these lights plus the money that will be needed to restore the roundabout, could have filled a lot of potholes and repaired a lot of pavements. As a Council we need to get back to sorting the basics out before we embark on fancy projects...and spending large sums of money...we don't have. There are some excellent people within the Council who want to sort the basics as they know what a difference they make and at not too great a cost...I'll be supporting them. P J
perhaps there was a genuine lack of choice here? Not sure how this result came about having met the man and seen the absolute lack of representation in my area over the last few years

Needs something to highlight the petition. Letters page in the guardian perhaps?
Bazj
I Have just been advised by a local parish councillor that after some gentle persuassion from him; the Council appear to have dropped the idea of banning the right turn into ASDA. Nice one PJ!!

Bazj
Maybe they should show the home phone numbers of the Councillors who aren't speaking out against these abominable lights. That way we could all phone them at 3 in the morning to complain!
