Lt Kije
The Welsh language was all but dead, until the english and Scottish tax payer started to pay for the Welsh to relearn it, Gaelic is spoken in Scotland as well, I am not paying for them
Dizzy
Lt K..... I don't really see anything wrong with Welsh people speaking Welsh. How come you say we have paid for them to learn it ?
Lt Kije
The British tax payer pays for it, People in England Scotland and Northern Irish, Welsh tv costs one billion, one in four of its programs has a zero view figure I have no problem with them learning Welsh, let them pay for it, why should I
observer
But isn't the Welsh language "recognised" by the EU? If we deprived them of the "human right" to preserve their native language, wouldn't some Taff take us to the Court of Human Rights and sting us for a fortune? NOR STA - YAKI DA! Lt Kije
The Uk supporting the Welsh language has nothing to do with the Eu Obs as well you no, It was a deal done many years ago in parliament to secure welsh votes
observer
No - I don't Know: last I heard, it was a language "recognised" by the EU along with a ruck of other dead languages like Basque etc.
Lt Kije
Could be wrong but I thought the Welsh language act was in 1967, could be wrong again Obs but I think that was before we joined the Eu

Dizzy
God help anyone in 100 years if they look at ours.. it's even confusing me now I have just checked it  How come it only asked for first name and surname of people... what about middle names?  I've sort of messed my section up though and they can figure it out as it's not my fault their questions on current employnent 'and' looking for work were ambiguous  Silly questions or silly form filler
Peter T
I was amazed, when having said that I was retired, they wanted to know if I was seeking work blah blah.
Dizzy
My dads retired and he works Peter... you are never too old you know  I would imagine that a lot of retired people look for work to help pay their bills or to give them something to do
Peter T
Sad state of the times. The children should be supporting them. If I was a suspicious type, I might think that the info as to whether one works or not after 65 helps to justify extending the working life before getting a pension. PS. I work, but get nowt for it. Dizzy
Sad state of the times. The children should be supporting them. Â We clap whenever he does something clever or stupid Peter... surely that is all the support he needs
observer
Who's said this info won't be used for 100 years? It may not be made public for 100 years, but if it's not used immediatley by policy planners, it makes the whole exercise pointless.
Dizzy
They do use all the info once it's collated Obs... they just don't link it to or divulge the individuals themselves 'allegidely'
Peter T
Says on the cover: "Census information is kept confidential for 100 years". Â Interpret that as you will. Do this lot lose laptops?
Dizzy
Yes Peter.. it's kept confidental for 100 years... Â That doesn't mean no-one has access to it or the collated data and information or like Obs said it would be a waste of time. It means that only the people who are allowed to access to it can peek.....a bit like your bank/medical records etc etc
observer
Interesting, given the questions in the census, that the Gov are proposing to reduce HB for tenants who are under using Council properties IE - one or two unused bedrooms.
