disgusted
Simple, ALL students would be charged by the UNI; Jock students would have their fees paid by the Jock Parliament, as is the intention of the Welsh Parliament - it's called LOCAL DEMOCRACY! Once again, can you refrain from your bigotry please you ignorant guff.
disgusted
They are at University, cos the last Government promised that 50% of school leavers would go there. However, they soon discovered that this couldn't be achieved within a system of meritocracy based on the economic needs of the State; so they tinkered with the system to dumb down required qualifications and introduced a host of mickey mouse subjects to accomodate the intellectually challenged. The result: a trebling of student numbers and a corresponding increase in the overall costs to tax-payers. Meanwhile, the other 50% of school leavers were left to make their own way in life, many without the simple ability to read, write or even speak properly. As for the Scots and Welsh, I guess you'll find that the smoke and mirror exercise called devolution, allows them to pursue a different course based on funding provided by the English tax-payer. Amazingly Obs, the population of Wales and Scotland do NOT live in mud huts, and most have jobs, so actuially pay tazxes as well, in fact if it wasn;t for Scottish oil revenue, the UK would have sunk into the sea long ago. Perhaps you should bare that in mind next time you pop off on one of your xenophobic paranoid rants!
observer
The Jock oil revenue arguement is wearing a bit thin, reality is it's British oil and gas, and running out - but basically, over 50million English tax-payers support 5million Jocks, 1 million Taffs and 1 million Paddies!
wolfie
Apparantly, even if the North Sea oil belonged to Scotland and the Jocks had all the oil revenue, they would still need ?7billion pounds a year subsidy to stay in the black. Lt Kije
The latest nonsense in our dog's breakfast called devolution: Scottish Universities are planning to charge English, Welsh and Ulster students attending their UNIs. BUT, get this; it seems they can't similarly charge EU students due to EU law - beam me up Scottie! What EU law Obs, Stop dodging. Which EU law will enable Scots universities to charge GB students but not the rest of the EU, as per your post
observer
Errm NOPE, again you've got the wrong end of the stick. Rewind:I said - the Jocks were going to charge English students for Uni fees, but not their own studends; with (irony) the exeception that they wern't allowed to charge EU students in the same manner - due to EU Equality Laws. YOU said, they wouldn't be able to charge English students differently, as it would amount to discrimination, on the basis of the same legislation - SO, what's the prob?! Lt Kije
it seems they can't similarly charge EU students due to EU law - beam me up Scottie! observer
"can't" "similarly" (similarly to English, Welsh and Irish) "charge" EU students (as in Polish, German, French etc etc) -
Lt Kije
Not according to you, Their seems to be an EU law to stop it Obs as per your post BUT, get this; it seems they can't similarly charge EU students due to EU law - beam me up Scottie!
