Bazj
A ?2000 loan or grant would just about sort out the costs to actually set up the business..... let alone run it for a little while. The government need to get the banks lending to businesses again rather than letting them pay bonuses....
observer
I've seen small shops open all over the place, then months later close down - at ?2,000 a wack, perhaps this might happen more often? Yes Baz, but the Tories don't want to touch the banks - it's now vital that they a) hit them with a tax levy: tax their bonus payments: c) break them up, to seperate the high street operations from the casino element, so they are no longer "too big to fail" and d) get them to pay back every penny they owe to the tax-payer. Bazj
Obs I agree....... The last government didn't tax them enough and now this one is falling into the same trap....
observer
But the problem is Baz; despite Vinny talking tough prior to the election, despite Millipede now talking tough - NONE of them have the gonads to do anything about it. observer
WELL, it seems the Banks are about to announce some big bonuses this year, BUT they'll say (due to Government pressure) they arn't as big as they would have been. Meanwhile, while the majority of Plebs are actually having their incomes reduced by retail inflation, redundancies, wage freezes et etc - it seems senior bosses in large corporations are still paying themselves super-size pay increases - so whatever happened to - "we're all in it together"? wolfie
Not just the big bosses Obs. 20 to 40% increases in basic salary across the board. So much for those who work their butts off deserving their bonus.
