algy
Don't know how many of you are bird watchers (I'm not although I do have an avid interest) I was driving along the B5153 between Weaverham & Northwich when we saw a large Heron type bird which turned out to be a White Stork walking along the footpath with a couple of people and a police officer attempting to make it fly off, on arriving home checked it out on the internet and seemingly a rare visitor to the UK, comes mainly from mainland Europe. algy
Nope! woolfie dead serious I must admit when I re-read it, it would make a brilliant start to a joke, I'm already beginning to regret putting it on here now, this culd be the start of a long thread? or maybe not. wolfie
A Policeman says to two people walking along the road. 'Do you want to hear a joke about Stork margerine?' 'Go on then' say the two people. No I'd better not says the Policeman, you'll only spread it.

algy
The last record of White Storks breeding in Britain was at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, in 1416. In 2004 a pair attempted to nest in West Yorkshire in the Calder Valley, unsuccessfully.
fugtifino
White Storks apparently come from Poland And if you're the Queen of Poland, you can eat them.
Wingnut
It is possible that this White Stork is an escapee, from a bird sanctuary/zoo that is somewhere in that area. Two years ago we had a Black Swan on one of our lakes. Still, good spotting from algy.
