Peter T
Did the country grind to a halt in the 40's, 50's, and 60's? What happened to chains? We used to fit them to the wheels and we still got around. I used to cycle to work in the snow. Had to smile yesterday. A guy riding his bike on the road instead of the snow covered footpath. I would have thought he would be safer on the footpath.
observer
Some of the reasons, like ice on the third rail, are a known recurring factor - so why don't they protect against it?
Evil Sid
they probably do but it may be the wrong kind of ice for the system they use

Dizzy
I hope not Obs am sick of seeing and hearing about it on every news bulletin and front page of the papers. Other countries manage to cope.... they must be laughing their socks off at all our news reports and how the country is grinding to a halt again. No wonder they didn't want us to host the Word Cup... A bit of snow.... chaos..... 'we' can't cope what if we have a month of sunshine... there will be water shortages...'we' can't cope what if it rains ..... there will be floods.... 'we' can't cope Infact 'we' are blummin useless eh
