observer
I know we've been here before; but with the pressure on Local Councils an NHS Trusts to save funds by outsourcing to Agencies: the story of that Agency Nurse pulling the plug on a life support system seems a bit scary - does it make you nervous? silverlady54
It does! It also makes me wonder what pressure those agency carers are under - would you go to a job knowing you might have to use life-saving equipment you hadn't been trained to use? I don't think I would ..... ! Do they fear losing their source of income?
observer
Probably non-Unionised too!
Dizzy
Completely agree with SL but I certainly wouldn't do a job if there was a chance I could kill someone by my lack of understanding or training. And if in any doubt at all I would ASK for a more qualified person to take over responsibility for a patient or would REFUSE to deal with such cases UNTIL I had the right medical skills. Guess that would be me out of a job then
algy
Half the problem is lack of understanding of the English language by cheap foreign labour.
silverlady54
You are right Algy, but in this case, the employers knew that the nurse was not trained to use the equipment and also knew that a trained nurse was required.
observer
The guy had CCTV set up in his room, cos he didn't trust this Care Company - so they had a history.
