observer
- first proposed the following: voting at age 18; passports for pets; 24hr pub opening - all of which eventually became law?
safeway56
Pub licensing law was transferred to Local Authorities in 2005, so it looks like Gordon cops the blame once more...So far he's ruined the world economy, plunged this country into massive debt and caused next door's cat to pee on our lawn. inky pete
So how does objecting to having ones national identity and culture swamped by imported overseas cultures, or expressing the opinion that UK born citizens should not be disadvantaged to give preference to immigrant non-citizens make anyone a racist? Â It appears to me that the left-wing liberal brigade have realised that they've lost the debate on the desirability of mass immigration and now just resort to calling anyone who disagrees with them a bad word. How very grown up.
observer
Inky, it's been used as a "shout down" against any application of common sense, by the liberal luvvies for the past three decades at least. Pragmatism and reality are not there strongpoints.
safeway56
Just who are the native English ? Very few who post on here I suspect. Most of us have an immigration background albeit some generations ago. In this small town where I live in most of us have an Irish heritage though none of us consider ourselves other than English...Even those of us who's families have been here for centuries have roots in Europe in what is now called Germany. I spent a weekend with a group of Asians from Bolton / Blackburn / Oldham and found them to be no different than myself...They spoke like me, had the same sense of humour. The main difference being was they didn't drink which meant they weren't as boorish as some who do. They were a pleasure to be with.
Lt Kije
Not at all if you had bothered to read it all, you will notice she did not have a problem with people of the same skin colour as herself Obs in fairness has a problem with all immigrants white or black
observer
Safe: it is not a case of "race", as the liberal luvvies try to portray it; but put simply - this country is like a life boat, and unfortunately it's full; even if swimmers want to come aboard and row, doesn't make it any less full - that's the top and bottom of it. As for past immigrations: the normal process tended to be - first generation finds it hard to adapt, still thinks of original homeland as home, possibly has difficulty with the language - second generation begins to adapt and integrate, will learn and speak the language (even with a local accent!) - third generation fully integrated and assimilated into the host culture. So IN THE PAST; not a problem, we had the room and the jobs and the public service capacity - things we no longer have. Plus; in the case of some groups; integration and assimilation into the mainstream culture is seen as a dilution of their cultural and religious origins, this has been exacerbated by the liberal luvvies policy of encouraging "diversity" - which is basically segregation or seperate development - with all the logical consequences that that brings. Bazj
A sort of Nu Labour generated and encouraged apartheid then!! only this time the toga wearers don't see it as being racist because it isn't the white part of the population making the demands and wanting things their way
