observer Posted January 22, 2009 Report Share Posted January 22, 2009 Back to Obama: just watched a Panorama Prog about the US health care system (if you can call it that); in the richest Nation on earth, those 20% or more living below the poverty line, plus an increasing number of their middle class are living in third world conditions with no access to medical care as they can't afford it. The reason this apalling situation has continued is the fact that the medi-care companies (via lobbyists) sponsor all but two of the total Senate. The new President is commited to "change" the medi-care system and the lobby system in Washington; which will put him in direct collision with the vested political interests of Congress - so, as in the UK, corrupt, self seeking politicians will scupper the progress of the people.
