Geoffrey Settle
http://cheshire.crimemapper.co.uk/ I've had a quick look at the link supplied by Gary to the Cheshire Police's Crime Map what do you think? Is it what you expected for your area and does it match your experiences?
Egbert
Struck me that it didn't tell me much I didn't already know. For it to be any use it needs more detail and to be updated on a daily basis.
Bazj
i'd say it needs the pictures, names and addresses of those doing the crimes..... that way they may think twice if their mums house was robbed!
observer
So is this the data, that our uniformed Police Officers spend hours in reports to compile, instead of getting on the streets and sorting the bad guys out?!
Dizzy
I'm still trying to get my head round the figures/percentages per 1000 and the 'deviation' calculations involved Why don't they just give actual figures ? I checked out the area where I live/work and the areas of some of my family and mostly we all seem to be suffering from an 'average' level of crime Surely that's not classed as being acceptable though We did have one above average crime area though but there was a big yellow statement saying what the police were doing etc.... so at least I guess all the crooks will check the website and hopefully then stay away from Paddington for a while
Bazj
If they gave the real figures, they couldn't keep up the pretence that crime was falling could they??
Dizzy
You mean it isn't really falling
Bazj
Hmmmmmm.... now how can I put this....... errrr NO!!
observer
Think you may find, that with the current economic debacle and violence in Gaza - that crime and terrorism will rise significantly.
wahl
so this is how the police spent my non voluntary contribution to their pension fund. totally useless data to most people but worthy of a jobsworthy person.
Bazj
Well if you go to Westbrook it tells me that: "Compared to this time last year, burglary in this area has increased by 100%" "Compared to this time last year, vehicle crime in this area has increased by 50%" "Compared to this time last year, anti-social behaviour in this area has increased by 11.3%" "Compared to this time last year, violence in this area has decreased by 54.2%" Reassuring that crime has only risen by 107.2% over the last year!! (Their figures not mine!)
observer
The answer seems to be appearing for all this data production - "quality of life" indicators - thus allowing additional differentials in Council Tax charges.
Dizzy
Seems you are right again Obs
observer
We'll have to wait and see, but the cynical guess tends to be the right one!
