Geoffrey Settle
Interesting reading on the front page today about councillors getting out and about in the South of Warrington - but hold on they've been doing so in the north for many a year. I've been out with councillors in the rain Still it has been sunny recently and I suppose that some councillors are looking a bit yellow around the gills and do need a bit of colour in their cheeks or
Dizzy
It's ok hitting the streets and doors as long as the intention is to actively work to resolve the issues put before you. We can but live in hope eh and if that is what happens then credit where credit is due As I've said before though on another thread simply listening is not enough and achieves nothing
Geoffrey Settle
Maybe they are after some street cred?
Dizzy
Maybe Guess they are at least learning something and trying to adapt to local life
observer
Is this all that local New Labour are left with Geoff; criticising the Libs for talking to the people; at least it beats giving out vetrans badges to ww2 survivors - as if you cared less. Geoffrey Settle
This is my opinion and mine only, I am not speaking for anyone else. I've no idea what you are prattling on about, I certainly don't want those melons shaped characters on a street near me, well ok perhaps in the gutter being washed down the drain. Am I making myself clear?

Paul Kennedy
Understanding Geoff can be an acquired art. From what people tell me, it might be better if one of the Councillors shown in the picture spent more time in their own Ward, where there is much work to be done. observer
Cal this controversy? In the words of Groucho Marx - "you wanna get around a bit"!
Geoffrey Settle
Paul - I knew that you'd understand - I would explain further but then I wouldn't want to be quoted out of context like you have been recently. Just wait I'm sure that there be the odd yellow banana beneath their feet. Mind you that?s if they can find the pavements you?re referring to. Geoffrey Settle
Nice one Paul - at least smilies aren't libellous - do you know they even send extracts from this site to the Standards Board for England - I have written confirmation. Paul Kennedy
Well that's alright Geoff, I never libel or slander anybody. PS Standards are now being dealt with locally.
Geoffrey Settle
I don't think I do either. However one of my posts was sent by them to the standards board only to be dismissed. Mind you I think that observer's mate still has a couple of outstanding ones against me as well maybe he's thinking of joining them to compare notes . Well that's just fown right pathetic. What ever happened to freedom of speech these days What goes around often comes around and vice versa and will often be dismissed in the very same way
Dizzy
PS Standards are now being dealt with locally. Guess that means we are all free to say what we really want to now then
Bazj
Freedom of speech ended years ago. Now, if you say anything you are slandering, libeling, being racist, sexist, ageist or just downright wrong! 10 years of Labours European PC nonsense has seen off any freedoms we had in this country! observer
Your free to say anything you want; "providing" you begin with "In my opinion" or you can phrase your comment as a question EG: "when did you stop beating your wife"? The Standards Board is a device to be used by inadequate politicians to undermine other politicians who they can't defeat in a verbal fencing match. It doesn't apply to non-politicians; which leaves them with the expense of a law suit for defamation, if they can afford it. As for Geoff; I couldn't imagine anybody trying to catch a sprat, when there are plenty of sharks about!
Geoffrey Settle
That's good news then, I'm no longer a tiny councillor of the parish type (mind you all 3 accusations against me were proved to be unfounded - it's often all in the mind of the beholder as you say) So now I can sleep easy I won't get brought before the standards committee for posting on here and I'm a stickleback swimming in Padgate Brook - much calmer waters these days. I like the ideas of your questions approach obs. I could face my Standards accuser and say 'Remember the accusations that you used to make about your new LIB/DEM colleagues before you defected, do you still feel the same way?' Is that the sort of thing you mean obs? I belive he'll be on a street corner near me soon so I'm sure that I will get my chance.
observer
He may join the Tories next time, if he thinks they can win!
Bazj
So what about... "Did the LibDems parachute Jo Crotty into Bewsey from Birmingham so that she could use it as a springboard to becoming an MP?" Would that count?
Paul Kennedy
As what, it's true although I think she lived in Lichfield and is a lecturer at Aston University in Birmingham.....except of course she won't become the MP for Warrington South.
