P J
I read that the BBC's senior executives have jumped into the trough...of taxpayer's money. They have never been out of the trough Paul
Peter T
It's just that the troughs have got bigger as the quality has declined.
Paul Kennedy
On that basis it must be one hell of a trough....and listening to the salaries that they are paid and the bonuses that they receive...it is. And then you find out that they put in expense claims for small amounts, but you would think on those salaries they wouldn't bother to make such claims. Chrissy
All of the Lib Dem MPs voted to end the John Lewis list. They asked the Conservatives to join them to win the vote, but for some reason the Conservatives declined.
observer
As I've alleged before; the Tories (with the exception of folk like Paul) are naturally corrupt; with Labour it's learned behaviour, and as they say, "put a beggar on a horse, and he'll ride to beggary"! The Lib Dems are somewhat on the periphery of the trough, as they arn't big enough to nuzzle their way to the front!
observer
Interesting thought, I'd missed: it seems the bulk of support to maintain the expenses rip-off, allegedley came from Labour back benchers - the theory being, that they've figured out they've only got another two years as MPs; so they've got to grab what they can, while they can - sad. Paul Kennedy
I see from The Times, Mr King read the public mood and opted to do the right thing: "Mervyn King said no to a pay rise of more than ?100,000 when he was re-appointed as Governor of the Bank of England earlier this year. It is understood that Mr King thought accepting the salary rise would be "inappropriate". As Governor, he was entitled to a new pay package of between ?375,000 and ?400,000, with lower pension benefits but Mr King declined the new deal and said he would remain on his current salary of around ?290,000, figures in the Bank's annual report show." And whilst people will rightly say that ?290,000 is a lot of money, it is worth noting that most Chief Executives of our high street banks are on well over ?1 million a year. observer
Seems our MPs have ditched the John Lewis scam, and reduced claims for kitting out their second homes from ?24,000 to ?2,400 pa. But they still have a second home that they can sell, having had it subsidised by the taxpayer. So sorry Gordon, you need to try harder. Paul Kennedy
Seems Union bosses have got their snouts well in the trough...mind you they always did. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1043197/No-credit-crunch-union-chiefs-perks-soar-69.html
observer
As the old saying goes Paul "put a beggar on a horse, and he'll ride to beggary"!
Paul Kennedy
Company bosses, Union bosses, politicians, state sector employees........they are all at it. I notice the numbers of people who have gone on the Olympics junket....3 times the number who have gone to compete....even the Dorest police have gone along ( sailing for 2012 is at Weymouth/Portland)
wahl
Thirteen government members including Harriet Harman will get an inflation-busting pay rise next year. They are among 26 London MPs whose Commons pay will increase by up to 9.4 per cent from 1 April under a deal voted through before the summer recess. observer
Seems Politicians arn't the only folk adept at having a good time on OUR money; seems the BBC have clocked up ?millions on air travel; so having "jollies" on the tax-payer appears to be a national disease. observer
Seems MPs have just agreed to extend their Xmas holiday period - guess most of them are now milking it before they get sacked in 2010?!
