observer
Jon, I answered your question - a solution would be to lock them up overnight and put them to bed with a sore backside - they wouldn't want to repeat the exercise again. Alas, some solutions are constrained by the human rights act, which basically means NO solution is possible.
Jonathan Levy
Jon, I answered your question - a solution would be to lock them up overnight and put them to bed with a sore backside - they wouldn't want to repeat the exercise again. Alas, some solutions are constrained by the human rights act, which basically means NO solution is possible. It is my opinion that locking them up for a night wouldn't make much of a difference, especially if they are not charged. There must surely be some solution that isn't constrained by the human rights act.
observer
The "locking up" takes them immediatley out of circulation (out of the Town Centre or off the Streets), thus preventing further damage to themselves or others. If they accidentally fall down the stairs at the cop shop, well, that's an added incentive not to get in such a state again. They would be charged with being drunk and disorderly, but if they were sore enough in the morning, a caution should suffice, thus saving court time and costs. Jonathan Levy
Yes but no matter how sore they may feel the morning after, releasing them without charge arguably gives many an incentive to offend again and then again just feel sore the next morning and get released. Jonathan Levy
Perhaps a trip to Israel, to observe their police in action then?! I would love to go to Israel but at this current time due to all the trouble etc would be somewhat hesitant to.
observer
It's called experience Jon; and you sometimes have to take risks to get it!
Jonathan Levy
Oh absolutely, I totally agree with you and sadly the trouble in Israel is never going to completely end and so any time you go there there is always going to be a slight risk but I do hope in the next year or two to go to Israel. I have a fair bit of family who live there.
