Jerry
I was both elated and disappointed in seeing the news and pictures of the Northern Ireland tidal turbine - the world's largest so far. It will only provide electricity for 1,000 homes, but that's a start. Disappointed to see a tower over the turbine -- expected it to be out of sight underwater. But maybe they need the tower or like a buoy it tells ships to avoid that space.
observer
There is also scope for esturey barriers; which contain tidal tubines but are also capable of combating flooding.
