Seems the Government are considering listening in to every phone call and reading every e-mail; is such an invasion of privacy a cause for worry? :?

Perhaps they may then get some perception of the depth of feeling people have about them and maybe do something about it, but that is about as likely as me snogging a giraffe on the way home from work tonight.

It is actually, alas it is being done on the grounds of fighting terrorism, things like this are just the reaction terrorists want. The Government will have Royal Mail open our post next and copy it. Guess all of the extra state employees required is one way of keeping unemployment down.

if they want to read mine they are welcome. most are adverts for viagra, internet banking scams, job sites offering to help me find work or from various gaming site informing me of their latest updates.

as for phone calls they might actually do something about the double glazing and insulation ones i keep getting. as for the rest of them they are from the wife wanting to know where i am and why i am late home from work despite the fact that she could stick her head out of the window and ask as i live about a hundred feet from where i work.

trouble is who is going to pay for all this extra surveillance. us taxpayers of course who else

Think they are more interested in what e-mails you send, rather than receive. As for phones, I believe the Government listening station already begin to tape phone conversations, triggered by key words? So if you want to say hallo to big brother, just say "bomb" - "guns" etc and you'll be on tape.

Believe there is a Gov listening station, that monitors national and international communications - in the interests of "security".:wink:

Seems local Councils now want the right to enter private homes, to see how many folk are living there - thus checking that thecorrect Council Tax is being paid - in these days of "you don't know, who's key, fits who's front door" - seems they'd have their work cut out!:wink:

Ok so I don't care if they want to read my emails, read my post or listen to my phone calls ... I wish they would :wink:

BUT if the local council think they can come into my family home (the one we've worked hard for and paid for) for a nosey about because they don't trust us they can sod off.... IT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY after all :P:lol:

Guess they would have to get some sort of warrant or they would be tresspassing..... I doubt that they could prove anything anyway

And once again... they can sod off :D

If I have to trust what 'they' tell me and what 'they' do then 'they' in turn will have to trust me

There is of course another way of looking at this: the "snooping society" and "snitch on yer neighbour" culture, can save the tax-payer money, as demonstrated by the convictions of several benefits cheats recently?!:wink:

If someone is cheating the system then fair enough as they deserve to be caught, and I'm sure they can be spotted....

But for the rest of us who abide by the rules and do nothing wrong then WHY should the snoops think they should just be able to walk into our homes and look for hopeful 'evidence'

If they came into my home they would find 7 guitars, 5 computers, 4 tv's etc etc..... so........... how many people would they expect to find living in a home like this

OK I give up... I will allow the snoops in if I have to  ... as long as they give me a few days notice so I can really have some fun with them and make their jobs harder... :D .

I hope they like dogs too :D:lol::wink:
