As EDF produces most of the French electricity using nuclear power stations could this be good news for us or should we be doing it ourselves by building new nuclear power stations NOW!!!!? observer Posted May 10, 2008 Report Share Posted May 10, 2008 Nuclear power stations are more expensive to build and to decommission, costs which ultimately fall on the tax-payer. And they havn't a clue what to do with nuclear waste, which has a half life of 1000s of years. It's a bit like PFI; live now, let future generations pay later. Much better at this stage to invest into research into non-waste options, including fusion, and use our own natural resource of coal.
