This covid19 bull crap has got to stop !    People cowering in basements, sans qualifications, wringing their hands and denying reality.  Don't forget, this epoch is being organized and run by the government - how often have they gotten it right ?  This bug is likely to hang around for years, what are you going to do, put a bar in your basement and wait for death by natural causes ?  You may as well just get a snotty nose and be done with it !

Testing is increasing daily and if you test a 100 people and 10 are positive that's 10%,  if you test 500 and 50 are positive, that's 10%, nothing's changed, but the media will go into meltdown and Obs will have twins!

If 75,000 fans filled Old Trafford, maybe a hundred would test positive, but eighty would have tested positive if they hadn't gone and highly unlikely anyone would die.  In fact, there is more probability that more will die in car wrecks to and from the game.

Be real, how many people do you personally know who have died from the bug?  The fact is that 99% of deaths all had life threatening pre existing conditions and if you are one of those people, go into isolation, but do not expect the rest of the world to commit hari kari over an inconvenient ailment.

To highlight the bullcorn, you can shop all day at the DYI store or supermarket with 200 people, or go on a BLM march with a thousand others and be perfectly safe, but a half dozen people in  restaurant or a bar is a death sentence.  That should tell you all you need to know about this emergency.

The experts change their minds every twenty four hours, they have no more idea how to deal with this than you have, so they cover their bewilderment by going overboard.  It's an aggressive virulent flu and nobody's enjoys getting the flu, but the truth is although more people will catch it, at the end of the day the final result is about the same.

Er, no. It is NOT like flu at all. The main vector is droplets and we cause those by speaking, singing and shouting as well as sneezing and coughing. People go to pubs to talk and Old Trafford to shout. You don't get to sing much in Home Depot! Four out of five cases are asymptomatic so they don't know not to join in. It attacks in ways that are really not like flu and can leave healthy folk with lung scarring, circulation problems and heart problems. Those insidious effects may not be evident immediately. Relating this disease to flu is dangerous because it is far more dangerous than flu and to a wider range of people. Don't expect the list of priorities for vaccination or isolation to be the same in the future as they were before, this thing is NOT flu.

THE TRUTH.

What is the truth though.

Is it what scientists tell you?  Is it what the government tell you?  Is it what the news media tell you? Is it what social media tells you? Is it what some bloke down the pub who heard it from a mate of his second cousin tells you? They used to say seeing is believing but with CGI and photo shop even that is not true any more.

I have no idea if it would kill me or just put me on my back feeling grotty for a few days like the last bout of FLU that went around the world. Personally i would not like to take the chance either way.

and finally a message from the government.

The way I see it is that most of us are going to catch this bug in one way or another unless we completely cut ourselves off from the rest of humanity. Okay I can live with having to wear a mask on the bus as a matter of politeness, but I don't expect it to protect me from a virus. I hope that my bodies own defences will do all the protecting I need but if they don't well c'est la vie and au revoir comrades, it was a hoot.

Whilst your right Asp;  unlike the under 30s, the grumpies can't go out looking for it as it will prove terminal.  We can only minimise contact with others and exercise preventative precautions being advised.  Alas we have political Leaders being driven by economic expediency rather than public safety, which will ensure this virus remains with us for some time.  The Yanks have a President who's latest gaff, was to claim "the 1917 flu pandemic" (actually 1918), " ended WW2" , thus lasting over 25 years !  😉   With idiots like that around, it clearly is a case of everyone for themselves - STAY SAFE, STAY HOME.      😷

The original information from the National Archives says:

Director Richard Massingham
Duration 1min 25sec
Release Date 1945
Sponsor Ministry of Information for Ministry of Health
Synopsis Amusing health propaganda trailer on the dangers of sneezing

That of course means it pre-dates the NHS and comes from the dark side.

Just been looking at the English death figures since March...

The dashboard figure doesn’t look at death certificates: it counts people who died for any reason after a positive test for coronavirus.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all exclude deaths that happen more than 28 days after a positive test but England doesn’t.

Statisticians argue that people who die months after recovering from coronavirus are skewing English figures upwards and painting an unduly pessimistic picture.

The government’s review of how coronavirus deaths are counted is said to be nearing completion, with statisticians hammering out a compromise that will hopefully lead to a clearer picture

What other statistics are similarly flawed ?

A doctor was being sound bitten on the radio news this morning where he was saying that ,although we have covid19, instances of commom cold ,flu & quite a few other illnesses have declined since early this year.

Perhaps  less people have being going to the doctors for one of 2 possible reasons

a) You can't get a doctors appointment ,or

b) People have been furloughed so don't need the odd couple of weeks off afforded by a visit to the doctors for a sick note.

Common sense really &, if all these scientists are gifted with the same gift as the doctor ,no wonder the public don't know if they are coming or going.

Being honest Davy it was just as hard to get an appointment before this outbreak

And sick notes are not really used in this day and age for various reasons..

So maybe they are just too scared of going into a medical environment and all it's imaginary or valid threats.

Having watched this process up close, ventilation is frankly invasive and quite brutal, thus the need for an induced coma, which dispels any notion of the medical profession being miracle workers. The additional factor of PPE ensures you die alone.   So it's no wonder, that many will avoid Hospitals, even to the point of dying from other ailments at home. The fact you can't get access to GPs very easily, just confounds matters.  😷

Having secured a blood test form, I've discovered that you now have to ring for an appointment for a blood test.  Having been on the line for the last ten minutes, listening to classical music I finally got through.   Might be easier to get hold of Dracula.      😷

It is not my intention to insult anyone, but at times my frustrations with 'heads in sand' boils over.  Confused, you are obviously an intelligent person, but you need to put the books back on the shelf and start considering crap outside the box, I fell asleep reading your posts on why Warrington had more cases......"..     Obs, get off the 'politicians want to open the economy for political reasons' crap.  For once, when your own personal fortune runs out, you may take the predicament of those who have been unemployed for months and more importantly, the family business owners who are never coming back, more seriously.

This is not the plague!   People over sixty are in danger if they don't wear support hose.  People over sixty are in danger of driving the wrong way on the highway.  People over sixty are in danger from Alzheimer's and dementia.  We don't go into meltdown over that, so why over this ?

Well said Stall. When we were forced into lockdown it was stated that this was to "Protect the NHS" and prevent it being overloaded. Now, when the number of people dying from Covid19 (and the number is in doubt because of the way numbers dying with, dying of and dying having once had are all mixed together) has slowed to a trickle, when the number of people dying from any cause is below the 5 year average, surely a fast return to sensible normality is called for. If you want to avoid mixing with other people, if you want to wear a mask at all times even when alone in your car, if you don't want to go to a pub or restaurant or cafe, all fine - do what you want if it makes you feel better. However don't preach to the rest of us when you don't actually know the true state of play.

Complete economic meltdown will have far more serious consequences than the precautions taken against the virus. The economy & schools need to be up & running asap.

Well that politician in the White House, certainly has a political reason for opening the economy - an election in November; and he's clearly bent on folk following his ignorant lead to get there.   People with dementia don't catch it from the irresponsible actions of others.  It's the lock downs that have reduced the spread of this virus,  opening up will just see it surge again and require the same actions again.     😷

Stallard,

Look back carefully - the only thing I picked you up on was that it was not flu -and it isn't and the false equivalence you attempted between going to shops and Old Trafford.

Why did I do that - because others read this stuff and leaving a falsehood in a topic called the truth is irresponsible in my view.

I do not take Obs' position on lockdown because the economy has to be made to work because the socialist magic money tree doesn't exist. I want to hear what the mechanisms for transmission really are and forget all the politically correct evasion.

The fact that cases numbers are growing faster than hospitalisations is not meaningful since there is a two week time lag that is still playing out. We need to understand the mechanisms and act smarter. Perhaps we should be limited to only local pubs to keep them open but keep away from Manchester and Liverpool.

What would you class as a "local pub" Con? There are loads of pubs in Manchester and Liverpool that could be classed as "Local" surely. And the rate of cases in both these places is less than in Warrington in any case, if you can set any store by the statistics being produced. I don't believe that the authorities really have an accurate figure on how many people have, or have had the virus with or without symptoms so it's all just guesswork.

Asp, I was using local as local to the individual, so in the same town at least.

Manchester, as of today's figures, had 37.6 cases per 100k population in the seven days up to last Saturday and Liverpool was 11.9 and Warrington 15.3. We can only see those with symptoms as I understand it because they don't test you if you don't have them unless you are in specific occupations.

So very few cases known about. It can't be that virulent if you have to be tested to find out if you're ill rather than ending up in your bed feeling like death for a week like when you have the flu. I feel like the "experts" have been fumbling around in the dark all these months and coming up with "solutions" like the lockdown when social distancing, protecting the old and vulnerable and improved hygeine is all that was needed from the start. So now we have everyone going around looking like bandidos because we are told that masks are essential, while a couple of months ago we were told they were useless. The "experts" are clueless. Track and trace is ineffective. All the statistics are flawed. We may as well all go back to near normal and let this virus run its course.

Apparently, there is a resurgence of the virus in Auckland NZ & the suggestion (another one) is that the re- infection has come in on frozen meat ,a type of cryogenic covid .
