asperity
So how have we gone from being terrified of a pandemic where people were dying every day, to being terrified of a casedemic where hardly anybody is dying but we are told that thousands of people have, or have had, the virus even if they haven't had any symptoms? The government has got itself into a situation where it's telling us one minute that we should remain terrified and the next minute that there's nothing to worry about and we should get back to normal. Then rinse and repeat. We can't sit out in the fresh air at a cricket match, but we can join in mass demonstrations and marches where people are yelling at each other. Come on Boris, start being Prime Ministerial and get your ministers into lockstep.
Latchford Locks
It was as new to the World Governments as anything that ever was before. So yes there have been U Turns, but no country has not changed it's mind several times during this crisis. I personally am as confused as the rest of us; governments included. And so as far as I'm concerned about it all.............. It's a case of live and learn not name and blame.
Davy51
Well,we are /have been told how closely related Covid 19 is to the common cold of which we can all have multiple visitations every year. The only way humanity has been able to deal with the common cold is by soldiering on with gritted teeth & if Covid is going to be a regular visitor that is the way we will have to deal with covid. It is unthinkable that the human race will need to keep isolating with every such covid outbreak otherwise herd immunity will not happen & ,if the common cold & covid are so closely related ,how do they hope to find a cure anyway ?
Evil Sid
There is no "cure" any vaccination given is to help the body to lessen the effects of the viral infection and reduce the risk of more serious complications that can be caused by it through partial immunity as i understand it. Of course i am not a medical expert having only done basic first aid forty odd years ago as a boy scout. Great if you want somebody who can fashion a sling out of two lengths of string and a plastic bag but not much use for anything really serious.....⚰️

It is unthinkable that the human race will need to keep isolating with every such covid outbreak otherwise herd immunity will not happen & ,if the common cold & covid are so closely related ,how do they hope to find a cure anyway ? According to the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) there are around 200 different viruses that cause what we call the common cold. About 100 of them are rhino-viruses and only four are Human Corona viruses. The latter being responsible for about 15% of infections. The common cold seems to be a set of symptoms exhibited as a result of many different infections and that is presumably why there is no specific vaccine, there are many different causes. If the covid vaccine stops the entry method of using corona virus spikes then the 15% of common colds caused by the less dangerous corona virus variants will be reduced in number too. The fact that the common cold is caused by a rag-bag of different viruses is why a lack of success in creating a vaccine for it does not reflect on the chances of finding one for a specific virus type. Hope that helps.
