Churchill wanted the Common Market and he would not have approved of your point of view. 1. "but that was to defend our country" - what precisely do you think this is about ? It's about defending our country, it's national sovereignty from being absorbed into a single super-State. 2. Churchill may have wanted a "common market", but never condoned the idea of losing Parliamentary sovereignty would have been alien to him; he even regretted the loss of our Empire ! 3. Having led a war against the dominance of Europe by a single State, I'm sure he would be the last to accept it being dominated by the same State again. Observer II
.Looks like Yvette Cooper and Co are trying to cobble together a Bill to prevent a "no deal" Brexit, which, in effect, will mean no Brexit - so much for honouring the will of the people.
Davy51
Tbh most of the "deals" sound like no Brexit.
Observer II
Judging by the PM's address tonight, she's trying to get Corbyn on board a deal, no doubt, in order to spread the blame. However, imo she doesn't need to try; Corbyn has clearly deliberately turned this saga into a mess, so he could blame it all on the Tories at a G/Election. But the fact is, every Remoaner MP is responsible for not accepting the referendum decision to LEAVE, and thus culpable.
Confused52
She is just taking away his last fig leaf of avoiding a blindfold Tory Brexit. If Labour have a blindfold now it is one they put there. Then there is Yvette Coopers bill which if Corbyn doesn't co-operate will revoke article 50. Corbyn has to agree before the Cooper bill gets to third reading or the government will pull the amendments they have just tabled and Corbyn gets the blame for no Brexit.
