asperity
Does anyone remember this song from the early 60s? https://youtu.be/ETX_EJgOVw8
Evil Sid
can't say for sure. i think i have heard it from then but may be getting it mixed up with the theme from one of those japanese series like "the water margin" or "monkey"
Bill
Thought it was a Japanese version of some song I'd heard before but it's probably the original just firing up some almost forgotten memories. Nice tune though. Bill
asperity
I remember it from my youth (it was probably played a lot on Far East radio stations when I was on ships out there in the 60s). If you read the comments underneath it hit a chord with a lot of people in the West.
Evil Sid
Now i think i know where i have heard it from. Didn't Kenny ball and his jazzmen do a version?

Evil Sid
well i never did officer. Must be something that tripped that memory from when i was a nipper but haven't a clue what it is. what a strange thing the mind is.
Bill
I thought I'd heard it somewhere else. It's all coming back now because I distinctly remember rattling the bars of my cot to Kenny Ball's version. Bill
Dizzy
I've never heard it before....but I was only born in the 60's
asperity
30 minutes ago, Dizzy said: I've never heard it before....but I was only born in the 60's What does that mean though Dizzy? Have you not heard anything by Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel, Glen Miller? There is so much music out there but people are obsessed by what is "popular" today. I came across this particular song and remembered hearing it "when I were a lad" out in the Far East and it struck a chord, which is what music should do. I think that we have lost the knack of it today somehow, if recent song contests are anything to go by................................................................................................ I'm not that old, I was born in the very early 50s. So still alive
