Unbelievable !

:D    Well older folk tend to have been brought up on the principle of pay as you go;  whilst youngsters don't seem to have a problem maxing out their credit cards. Believe household debt is at record levels. NB. The Tories actually won the election, biggest party with 42% of the vote (Lab 40%), and can form a Gov with DUP support. It's inconvenient however, to have Remoaners trying to sabotage Brexit at every turn.

You're right that levels of unsecured debt are high, but you've no evidence that youngsters don't seem to have a problem maxing out their credit cards, you've just made that bit up.

NB, I know the Tories actually won, I said they didn't get the landslide you hoped for, I'm not wrong.

"Remoaners"!

Hahahaha...

Fed up now. The country is practically ungovernable and the DUP will extract a high price for Brexit. It seems that what they want, according the what they ask for in their manifesto, is close to the Norwegian model where we pay through the nose to get bossed about. It may be more Anglo-Saxon to stay in the EU and have a say since the things the leave campaign wanted may never come to pass and we would be stuck with the European Court of Justice and primacy of EU law.

The biggest problem for May was assuming that the parts of the country that voted "leave" because they believed it was in their best interests would suddenly veer away from their Labour leanings .She failed to understand that an election manifesto was different to a straight "in or out" vote.

Davy,

It was worse than that really. The Triple lock only costs money when the rate of weekly wage increases is less than 2.5% or inflation is lest than 2.5%. For the last two years those indicators, the double lock, have been very close to the edge and the triple lock effectively cost very little. This year and next there is likely to be no need for the triple part; the abolition of it was a shot in the foot along with the lack of clarity about the contents of an unwritten green paper on social care. These meant that Corbyn could offer a giveaway on the cheap to the only group that weren't being bribed already apart from those earning over 80k. Staggering incompetence by May.

McDonald said this morning that they were always going to review what they would actually do after they got it with help from their friends. So there would never have been all the goodies anyway ... but it is too late now.

Oh and if you think the "youf" may turn out to vote in large numbers don't choose a polling day in exam weeks at universities where going out to kick the politicians is a welcome distraction from last minute revision.

Sorry Fugs, but it's called experience of life, when you've got some, you'll understand !    Dave, it was probably too much to expect, that Leave voters wouldn't assume it was in the bag, and return to their tribal leanings on other issues. Those other issues, will cost a lot of money at a time when the EU is trying to extort a £100billion golden goodbye from us, coupled with charges for access to the single market.  Not that we can entirely trust Mrs May, but if Corbyn and Co, have anything to do with it, they'll be accepting something like the Norwegian model (pay and no say) OR with no agreement, keep us in the EU - so much for the will of the people.

If I was cynical, I would say that the whole election thing was a last and desperate ruse by Mrs May to derail the Brexit plan which she herself never wanted. You can just picture the scene....

TM "So, how can we get out of this Brexit thing?.... there's only a couple of months left"

Advisor: "Call a general election and upset the one section of the voting public who vote consistantly Tory.... scrap winter fuel payments, mess with their pensions and tax 'em when they are dead...."... "That ought to be just enough to get us a hung parliament and then we can just tell the voters that we'll have to take whatever the EU offer us"....

TM..."Great Idea....Let's do this" :)

Patronise me all you like but I'm not letting you get away with presenting your ill informed opinions as fact.

And, again, watching telly isn't the same as experience.
