Not sure about Doctors; but certainly Nurses, if we start paying for their burseries, instead of poaching folk from abroad. Might help also, in Scotland if Scots students didn't have to pay for Uni, like EU visitor students - one for Nicola I think !     8)

and when Germany recommends it, you know it will happen :)

and France have reportedly said that the bi-lateral "Le Touquet" agreement is safe too.... so no ferry loads of migrants being shipped by them to Dover

But we don't in fact burseries have been slashed and as we have seen today its a pretty safe bet that there isn't going to be a ton more money sloshing around the economy so if anything it will become worse.  Your utopia is a myth like the myths used to get us where we are.

p.s.  there is the small matter of this, I don't imagine the job centre is teeming with such qualified folk.

What qualifications do I need to become a nurse?

Each university sets its own entry requirements to get onto a full-time degree in nursing, but as a general guide you'll need at least five A-C grade GCSEs (including English, maths and a science subject) and at least two (preferably 3) A levels. Many universities require A level biology.

So, we start training our indigenous youngsters, or are you saying they're too thick or poorly educated, or lazy ?   8)

I am saying that was always an option but we didn't or couldn't or wouldn't do it.  What is a fact is that we do not have enough indigenous qualified nurses or doctors or paramedics or carers and to train them takes time and also needs to appeal to prospective candidates and therefore needs to be made attractive pay wise.  At the moment we have an NHS where staff moral is at rock bottom, we have contracts being imposed upon them and we have strikes.  The likelihood is that our indigenous medicos may well begin a Brexodus .  Thank heavens for the immigrants propping up the services we value.

if we start paying for their burseries..

Ah, something we agree on.

The scandal here is that nursing students are effectively paying to work - as well as their studies, student nurses have to spend around 30 hours per week on the wards, it's rare that any of them find the time or energy to hold part time jobs.

The 2016 intake is going to be the last year where fees and bursaries are paid by the NHS and is expected to be the most competitive year yet as many mature applicants who have been mulling it over for some time decide to take the plunge. With the introduction of fees for nursing degrees in 2017, places will probably become less competitive, and we may even see some institutions relax their requirements.

Seems every cloud...

Yeah, and look who's taking us as a cue, "far right leaders"

and France have reportedly said that the bi-lateral "Le Touquet" agreement is safe too.... so no ferry loads of migrants being shipped by them to Dover

So we've brexited for nothing?

but as a general guide...

This is very general and, not to be picky, but just in case anyone may act on this advice: A Level biology is only usually a requirement for midwifery - though it would be an advantage for other nursing programmes - and even some of those may accept PE, a social science or other science based qualifications. GCSE science, again, is only usually a requirement for midwifery, though some universities may ask for it for other nursing programmes. It may surprise some that GCSE science isn't a requirement for secondary teaching, but it is for primary.

Thank heavens for the immigrants propping up the services we value.

Indeed.

Sorry, as you were...

"Needs to be made attractive pay wise" - well your getting there ! But with unlimited labour from countries with high unemployment and lower wages why would any exploitative employer or even Governments that can't plan beyond the next election want to bother educating and training it's own people? This was a proxy vote against all that is and is going wrong with our country; and a demand that all politicians get a grip.    8)

so the bit about indigenous nurse training was just nonsense.  Thought so but didn't expect such a quick turn. Your argument is all over the place.   your last 2 sentences were just piffle, as per.

Tis you who are "all over the place" - we should be educating and training our own indigenous youngsters - end of. Bit difficult when free movement and exploitative employers allow foreign labour in.    8)

 - due to a lack of funding, it has to recruit cheap skilled labour, in the absence of our own trained workforce. Those who are skilled will be emigrating or charging the NHS for their services through agencies. All the kind of ills that need sorting out.     8)

And the new funding is coming from....................?  Nowhere thats where.  We are dependant upon foreign investment,  that depends on confidence and that depends on consistency and predictability.  We just blew that to high heaven so perhaps when we need to pay nurses we can go cap in hand to the IMF  again.

HAHAHA  probably the most discredited figure in history.  Even your spiritual king the NF has debunked that since the result.  Off you trot to the empty pot.

it is a bi-lateral agreement which requires 2 years notice to change it. It is nothing to do with the EU and was set up soley between France and the UK. France is responsible for the mess at Calais by letting the migrants travel across the entire width of their country to try and get to the UK anyway, so again, being in the EU as France is still, doesn't stop the flood. If they did move the border back to the UK, do you really think there will be ferry loads of migrants sent across the channel? Do you really think the UK government would even allow them to dock here? And as was written on another news website

"Despite these claims, a French government spokesman stepped in today to allay fears of a breakdown in the deal.

He said: ”On the question of immigration, to be clear, British exit from the European Union will not lead to changes in terms of immigration treaties with United Kingdom. These are bilateral treaties.”

Even a website capaigning to stay in the EU had this to say about the threats of the Calais Mayor:

and you accused me of scaremongering :) :)

either way seems we still have no control over our own borders and are reliant upon others.

our borders should be protected  as should Frances and every other EU country they pass through to get here. Unilaterally abandoning the Dublin treaty as Germany did and suspending the Schengen controls as the Eastern countries did certainly didn't help.

Funny how the BBC missed off the bit about the French Government spokesperson stating the Touquet Treaty wouldn't be at risk when many other news services carried it on their websites isn't it?....

Ryan Air today announced it would be suspending all investments in the UK for at least two years and would invest in more stable countries like Spain and Italy!
