"We need to take back control" 'IN' or 'OUT' ?

I've no idea how the FTSE works and what it all means but we have an 25 year mortgage endowment policy that finally matures in December and we get our payout from it.

I looked before going to bed in the early hours of this morning to see what they were worth before the final referendum votes were in.

I just braved looking again expecting them to have plummeted today but NO at close of business today both the bid and offer price are up by around 13p a share on what they were yesterday.

So it's not all bad

Are we still EFTA members ?

Actually Dave; we're still EU members; and will be so until article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is invoked - by our Government.   The Brussels Mandarins want us to do it quickly before the contagion of democracy spreads; but with Parliamentary majorities in favour of Remain;  think we'll see some rear guard actions in the near future.

So who will be next to leave? I have friends in France and Denmark  who tell me there is demand for a referendum. Poland has also threatened to leave the EU should the EU try to impose Muslim immigrants on them. 

 

While not threatening to leave the next headache for the EU is Spain with elections tomorrow. If the United Left party wins it has said it will stand up against the austerity measures of the EU.

It's a failed project, made worse by an un-elected political elite who can't see beyond their narrow political aims, and is therefore un-reformable. However, it's proved a usefull proxy for establishing the true nature of the political divide, not just in the UK, but throughout Europe. It's now for the political Parties to review their policy bases, and pick which side of this divide they wish to jump.

it is interesting that today the founding members of the EU met in secret talks, later they said that a UK exit does not alter anything and the remaining members will continue on the current  economical and legal road, of unification.

Well seems the two clowns Gove and Johnson are a bit gutted by Cameron out manoeuvring them by jacking leaving them to sort out their own mess.

'A reluctant Parliament', now that's putting it mildly.

I suspect that, displaying the respect for democracy that is the trademark of the Mother of Parliaments, its inhabitants are already planning the best way to pee up the Leave voters backs while telling them it's raining.

Cameron stuck his head in a noose a soon as he promised a referendum if his talks failed. Unfortunately, as a committed Remainer he would never put his heart & soul into a referendum that might take us out of the EU but he was happy to campaign for the EU proposals that had already been on the table &  which he thought were unsuitable. He should have resigned then or just taken no part in the debates & campaign for either side.Given the animosity that has come about from all sides in campaign though i think Dave should be persuaded to stay on as PM & rescind his resignation providing he follows the mandate of the referendum. The in/out camps should now be broken up & MPs should come back together along party lines to Westminster & resume running the country .

 

This situation should highlight how good or bad our politicians are & how good they can run the country apart from just rubber stamping EU directives.
