observer
Having advocated more exercise for youngsters in order to avoid obesity; we now have the medical profession seeking to soften contact sports such as Rugby. Seems to me, that if parents have concerns about possible injuries to little Jonny, then pick a non-contact sport like running or swimming; rather than trying to modify existing sports. Davy51
Stick them all in scrum caps ,no need for crash helmets like our yankee chums, & ban tackling above shoulder height . Get parents to sign a disclaimer if little Johnny still wants to get involved.
observer
There's an argument that greater protection can mean folk go in even harder, so can still do damage. The feint hearts need to be kept away from contact sports, leaving the hard knocks to take the hard knocks !
