observer
Are we getting used to the "administrive errors" committed by Hain and company; are we now passed being shocked?!
Peter T
I have never been shocked by Hain. He should have been deported when he was a student complaining about everything in this country, yet he was happy to have his education here. Funny how most of the Blair regime were at Uni at the same time.
Legion
can we still call it new labour...its getting vey old & tired now.
asperity
Hain takes political dishonesty to a whole new level. He is surely the most hypocritical I've ever seen. Makes Mandelson look almost angelic! :angelwings: :angelwings: :angelwings: Â [ 11.01.2008, 17:28: Message edited by: asperity ]
observer
Next time a copper pulls you up for speeding; will excuses like "it was a slight oversight"; "I forgot"; etc be acceptable as an excuse?!
Student Geoff
No - what a stupid and naive comment exactly what do you base this comment on, do you really think the traffic police would stand for that as an argument for speeding ? you just try it mate and see what happens to you. If Hain has committed a crime then he will be found out and suffer the penalty such are the rules that everyone has to adhere to.
Peter T
Geoff, When did you have the humour by-pass?
observer
Geof: get real: Hain will be unlucky to get his hand slapped; they have rules for these politicians but no consequences.
Student Geoff
Perhaps we shall have to wait and see. What I can't belive though is the amount of money MP's of all persuasions spend on their campaigns
asperity
MP's of all persuasions spend loads of money on whatever they want because IT'S NOT COMING OUT OF THEIR POCKETS.
Paul Kennedy
I think the problem regarding Mr Hain, was that he spent the most on his campaign only to come 5th out of 6th. Since his ego and belief in his own ability is so great, his failure to suceed, but rather do so badly, is a cause of great personal embarrassment, hence his desire not to publicise the figures. Rather naive on hi part to believe the figure wouldn't come out in the end, afterall in politics you make enemies, especially at his level, who are only too happy to stick the boot in, when and where they can. Â If people are willing to fund the likes of Mr Hain's campaign, more fool them. If candidates wish to spend their own money on their campaigns, then that is up to them. I really don't care how people spend their money, provided that they then don't expect others to bail them out because of their unwise spending habits.....bit like the current situation of massive UK personal debt really. observer
Simply no need for the level of spending on elections - just needs capping - problem sorted.

Legion
funny how resignation in the ranks of the government is shortly followed by a new posting over some other area, thats a nice company to work for, I unfortunately cannot resign as I have to survive and my boss wont put me in a new higher paid but less obvious role if I did. Â I dont think that campains should be given any money, surely good policies and commitment is all it needs.
Peter T
It's a pity his visa hasn't run out. Perhaps he should seek advice from Blunkett.

Knacker of the Yard making tracks for ones doorstep has that effect.
