Geoff Settle
Following the disgraceful decision to close Woolston High at the Town hall the energy of closure specialists and protesters boiled over to the monthly parish meeting. Our meetings are never dull or quiet and this proved to be no exception with quite a few accusations and counter claims being voice. We had a visit from the environment officer who described how green and pleasant the Parish is, apparently we have nothing or very little to complain about. If that's WBC's few then I hate to think what the rest of the Borough is like. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your view point I let rip because it is not the view of the people who I have spoken to during my meet and great the people. The recent by-election only furthered my resolve. But I wasn't the only one everyone gave as good as they got and a good debate was had by all. Just hope that there aren't any reprisals. These things can happen you know. I did however get accused of doing nothing in my four years of office by the Lib Dems and they even quoted my from my recent email to the contact centre were I openly admitted that I had failed to get the MAIN path in Enfield park sorted out since being the Parish Path Warden. The best I have managed is to get WBC Highways to admit it IS their responsibility and they have repaired 3 small patches each no bigger then my Cocker Spaniel. Step outside of the circle and look at what you are complaining about and see if it is nit picking. At the end of the day, it is "people" who make the area what it is. And maybe, 18(?) years of a Labour controlled council? We all have a wish list, but it costs money. Also, don't forget, that some areas do NOT have the facilities that your area has. That's the sort of thing they do Geoff....or had you have sorted it...they would have tried to have taken credit...they are even known to misquote or quote out of context.....as they did with me on a World This Weekend interview I gave. Anyway such is life, people still vote for them although now people are starting to question their abilities...creating photo opportunities and getting loads of petitions signed is one thing...getting ones hands dirty and delivering improvements is quite another...the latter requires ability. I just love the image that generates.... did you put your cocker spaniel in each of the holes or did you measure the holes and then your cocker spaniel? and how apt would it have been if your cocker spaniel was called patch... or patches.... and if he was small!! Sorry, its early and I am just about awake!! Baz
Peter T
Paul, perhaps cllrs should take NVQ's in the subject.

Hit the nail on the head there Paul. Talk is easy but like you say ability, drive, commitment and being interested is what is needed to sort problems out. But it's just too easy for 'some' to just sit back and let someone else do all the hard work knowing that they can twist the credit round to being theirs when a jobs finished becasue they once spoke about it. Geoff Settle
Lucy thinking 'What's this patch for?' Where did that workman go I thought he was going to do more than three patches? Geoff Settle
Yes she is a cutey but I'm fed up to the back teeth of people who discard food. She spots it a mile off with her sensitive nose and gobbles it up - goodness only knows what she swallows I try and clean up Enfield Park as best I can and the Ranger service do the same but these idiots who dump their rubbish feet from bins are a real pain in the back side which is where I'd like to place my size seven but I have been warned off doing that by the police - so being a law abiding citizen who uses binoculars for looking at the bird and bees I have to grin and bear it. Are Parish Councillors going to get new powers in this respect?
Peter T
Another Parish Cllr who uses binoculars? There must be a lot of bird spotting around your way Geoff.
Geoff Settle
Do you know of another one?
Peter T
Sits on the same Parish Council that you do, and was mentioned at the above meeting. You must pay attention Geoff.
Geoff Settle
Do you know there was so much going on at that meeting and I had to keep a clear focus to make my points that I totally missed that. So well done Pete for spotting another peeping tom. Can't say I know who you mean though. Has the person been outed yet or made know to the police? Geoff Settle
What has the cat got your toungue Pete? I thought that with your connections you'd have been able to answer that question or do you fear a reprisal?
Peter T
Perhaps you should ask your fellow cllrs, as I wouldn't want your Parish Council brought into disrepute for some allegation.
Agamemnon1
It seems that one qualifaction for budding parish councillors these days is a decent brand of binoculars !
Geoff Settle
Ag I'm more a magifying glass type of person you never know what is in the small print. Pete as for bringing groups into disrepute, simply by writing on WWW I thing that many people think I am doing that daily. You wouldn't belive the number of people I offend without realising it but don't worry they soon let me know. Bazj
So what is the problem with the tarmac in the pictures Geoff? Looks fine to me (albeit a lttle tatty round the edges) but if you compare it to Hawleys Lane your tarmac looks baby bottom smooth!
Geoff Settle
Your right about the quality the two guys did a good job and covered the three small areas well, however the rest of the 1/4qtr mile path remains rutted and requires the same attention to detail. Dizzy
Guess none of you have ever been to a Stockton Heath Parish Council meeting
