Stallard12
Don't have my utility bills to hand, but gas (petrol) prices are dropping fast, at the moment regular gas is $1.60 a gallon (26p / liter) in Texas.
Steve the Original
Were paying about 90p a liter for Diesel...so be happy your not paying our prices..
observer
Unfortunately in the UK, pseudo-competition allows a cartel of companies to hike prices regardless of falling wholesale prices. Finally changed my supplier, and almost immediately had the old supplier on the phone, offering reduced charges - crazy.
Evil Sid
just had a look at my bills and got the following. gas 4.57p per kWh electric 13.9p per kWh standing charge per quarter for both £43.08 diesel here is about £1.20 or so per litre. so apart from the diesel pretty much the same for the gas and electric including the standing charge. the diesel was about 90p per litre about ten or so years back. Steve the Original
Sid thank you, that quite a bit considering... thankfully here there are loads of Companies who want you to join them hence the lowish Prices...A lot of the Local companies do have higher prices but i change every year to the one who is the cheapest and who gives me the best price..more competition equals lower prices.. wolfie
Well without logging on and checking I have no idea but according to this -http://www.ukpower.co.uk/home_energy/tariffs-per-unit-kwh The cheapest average tariff both for gas and electricity is with electricity at 9.397 pence/kwh and Gas at 2.899 per pence/kwh
P J
I looked at Extra Energy but they got absolutely awful customer service reviews, OVO had really good ones.
Latchford Locks
I think this calculator gives everyone what they need in terms of tariffs http://www.ukpower.co.uk/tools/smart_meter_calculator and you can work it out for yourself without some telephone salesman trying to blind you with science. Dizzy
Does Scottish Power have and standing charges or other bits to add on top of the unit price cost Latchy ?
Latchford Locks
Yes but the link I posted explains everything All you need is two readings off your gas and electric meters say with a space of 7 days between each reading. and the site will tell you exactly what every single provider would charge you. Its so simple even I managed it

P J
A tip when using the comparison sites is when it asks do you want comparisons only on deals they can get you today say no and go for ALL comparisons. They are paid commission by the energy suppliers and will only show you the ones they get most money for selling if you let them.
observer
Changed suppliers, but I think it's the same gas coming through the pipe !
