Egbert
A new survey reveals that the average Southerner takes 2.9 holidays a year while the average Northerner is lucky to get one. Wonder what they are running away from?
algy
Possibly going as far north as they can to get away from ebola!.

algy
Our holidays always seem to involve a great deal of work both in preparation and execution, for Mrs algy with packing and on return with washing and ironing and myself with driving which I detest intensely and find very stressful, also having worked for ten years in the hotel industry I'm critical of everything that goes on in the hotel. Each time we return we swear we will not go again, but we do!.
Dizzy
We've not been on holiday for about 3 years, no particular reason why other than we never seem to get round to it and just can't be bothered with the mither of it half the time....oh and combined with the fact that the good old english rain always seems to follow us if we do go
Stallard12
Off on Caribbean cruise on the 19th, our 7th. Best value in vacations ever, course we sail out of Galveston and that's only an hour away, so no airfare. Algy is right though, Becky has been packing for a month and the house is starting to echo !!! When we leave, we look like a Bedouin camel train. Stallard12
Thanks guys. We have been on quite a few and I know from experience, that I'll put on 5lbs in seven days, small price to pay for all the gluttony - lost 20 lbs over last six weeks, so I've cut myself plenty of slack. wolfie
Well I've just got back from a fortnight in Madeira, and last September I spent 6 months over there, and with a bit of luck I'll be back there next May.

observer
I suggest best viewed from the sea; the whole Island erupts in a fantastic display, from end to end; it last about 8 minutes.
Evil Sid
re reading the original post I can't help wondering, how do you have 0.9 of a holiday. Is it if you go on a 10 day break you only get nine days or if it is a 14 day cruise do they throw you overboard on day ten?
Bill
I've managed two holidays this year, one in Turkey with the grand kids and another more relaxing one just a couple of weeks back to Croatia. Highly recommend Croatia if you want a place that's unspoiled by over commercialization. Bill
