More facts for Kije to ignore:-  Rumanian immigrant  Mihai Toma and his family of 15 children, living on £4,600/month in benefits; is demanding a bigger council house.  Mr Toma earns £1,800/mth as an electrician; gets £2,500/mth in tax credits; £1,400/mth housing benefit and £700/mth in child benefit.

I have no idea how these people get the benefits. A chap near me has been out of work for 3 years, when he went to sign on he was asked did he have any other income. He stated that he had a small company pension of £75 per week, on which he was told that he wasn't entitled to any benefits. After a lot of heated exchanges he said to hell with it just put me down as unemployed then. No such thing as unemployed he was told, you are either getting Job seekers allowance or you're not, if you're not then officially you aren't looking for work.

The 19 year old daughter said "we have the benefits it’s because it is our right in this country. We like it here, it’s a nice place"

I wonder why they like it here and why they don't like Romania with its gypsies and poverty?

They are net takers from the system and should be booted out

The father is an electrician and is on good money so if he had a normal size family there would be no need for him to claim ANY benefits or housing at all.

Maybe the rules should be changed so that people who have huge families shouldn't be able to come over here in the first place and those that do come over with no children or just a couple shouldn't get extra benefits if they then continue to reproduce at a silly rate.

Saying that there are uk born families who have huge families too and claim every benefit going so I guess that wouldn't work.

Two bricks would be cheap and would should sort it though :oops:

The "Treaty" refers to the "free movement of labour", not families; but if we deported his family, he'd probably win " a right to a family life" at the ECHR. Only answer to this nonsense is to get out of the EU and ECHR.  As if to emphasise just how ridiculous our so called border security is;  some migrants were arrested in France, trying to get home from the UK, (under lorries) - yer just couldn't make it up !

Your attempts to convolute the argument are a standard tactic for those who've lost the argument; but the point being made in this case is the absolute porous nature of our borders and to note the efficiency with which the French don't allow them back into France, having let them get through to the UK originally. The UK Gov have completely lost it; not knowing who, where or how many illegals are here; and due to the EU and ECHR legal straight jackets, being powerless to do anything about it, even if they were motivated.

Hey???  It's an example of just how porous our borders are; we can't even stop them getting out, never mind getting in. While you want "examples" - CH5 did a documentary (illegal immigrants and proud); in which an Indian illegal immigrant, who entered the UK 16 years ago, was actually trying to get back home. During his 16 year stay; he'd had two hip replacement ops and a skin graft on his leg, courtesy of the NHS.  Because he'd destroyed all his documentation when he entered the UK, the Indian Embassy refused his claim for repatriation - leaving us stuck with him. This is the kind of nonsense that your ilk are trying to defend.

The whole scenario is "extreme"; the migration of peoples in huge numbers and over such a short space of time is unprecedented. It's not just from Africa and M/East to Europe; but Asia to Australia, and S/America to the USA; all moving to a "better life"; regardless of the capacity of those countries to take them. The situation is totally out of control and liberals in denial haven't helped.

So we have "illegals" sneaking into the country and we don't know how many per day and we have "illegals" sneaking out of the country and again we don't know how many per day.

Given that info one could assume that the number sneaking in is equal to the number sneaking out so the net amount of illegals in the country is zero. By gum I'll make it as a politician yet.

Seems Dave is making an effort to appease public anger at being ripped off by immigrants; he's reduced benefit payments from 6 to 3months. But surely, if they've come here to work, they should have a job organised, and with sufficient pay not to require benefits?

....and if they are working at all they are automatically entitled to all the low income benefits such as Housing Benefit, Income Support, free prescriptions, free school meals and all the rest of it - as well as child benefit for children back home who may or may not even exist!

A couple of hours a week flogging the Big Issue counts as far as the benefits system is concerned as employed via self employment, and opens the door to all of the above. Add in a black economy cash in hand job or a successful theiving career and the streets of the UK really must seem paved with gold!

As a taxpayer of this country I certainly pay more into the coffers than I take out (this must be obvious even to the least numerical amongst us?) so statistically what Lt Kije says is probably correct. It doesn't make it right, however, that people can come into this country, not make any contribution, and be awarded benefits taken from the rest of us who do. By all means protect the underprivileged amongst the indigenous population as has historically been the case, but people from other parts of the world coming here simply to sponge off the workers of this country? The line has to be drawn somewhere.

 Kije,   Surely you don't really believe that luvvie EU propaganda?  In order to pay tax you have to earn enough; the majority of immigrants will be earning a minimum wage (if that), thus will not be paying tax, but will be receiving tax credits, family allowance and other benefits; plus their families will contribute to our overcrowded schools, hospitals, GPs surgeries, housing and roads. Other posters don't have to believe me, it's on the TV news nearly every night nowadays.
