Time to ban the niquab in public?

It's not the burqa specifically which is banned in France, the Act of Parliament over there is called the "Act prohibiting concealment of the face in public space" and applies to all citizens, including men and non-Muslims, who may not cover their face in public except where specifically provided by law (such as motor-bike riders and safety workers) and during established occasional events (such as some carnivals).

  Well, they certainly need to get a grip, as the latest airport security scare shows; the paranoia will have things grinding to a halt. One would have thought that there is enough technology now available to identify folk (assuming a bare face), and assuming they had a data base.

In the name of political correctness, they don't like to profile though which causes many of the delays.... The powers that be would prefer to stop old white ladies going to Benidorm than some arab or muslim looking guy going to the USA....

  • 2 weeks later...

There is a Muslim guy in Oxford, an Imam I think, who is pushing for a ban on all face coverings in public. These include ski masks, back to front balaclava as well as yasmaks and the like.

I hope he gets his campaign of the ground and through Parliament.

He will need a campaign manager with experience. Whats you know who doing these day ??? :P
