Farage V Clegg -

observer

I didn't see the live debate. Saw the Sky synopsis on its 24 hr news channel and then saw the BBC news item on the 10 o'clock news.

It was noticeable how the BBC editors gave their item a left wing slant. Several of Farage's  good shots observed in the Sky coverage were missing from the BBC 's coverage and plonker  Clegg always got the last word.  I can't imagine Farage in No 10  but he does strike a chord with Eurosceptics. It always seemed daft to me  that we give oodles of dosh to Brussels so that they can give it back to us to spend in Britain on British projects.

BBC 2 . 2nd April. 7pm.            Watched a prog about the EU and a college in Brussels, which acts as some kind  of finishing school for Eurocrats; and surprise, surprise; it seems Clegg was a student there, prior to taking a job on the gravy train. Apparently, never had a "proper job", straight from Uni into politics like most of them nowadays. So it's no wonder he'll defend the status quo at all costs.

Had to laugh, seems Clegg "was shocked" to hear Farage support Putin over the Ukraine issue, and will be taking the matter up at their next debate.  All Nigel apparently said, was that the legitimate elected Government of Ukraine was overthrown by an illegal revolution, encouraged by the EU - merely, as with most of his statements, a statement of FACT and one that resonates with majority UK public opinion.  Just can't believe how hypocritical and out of touch with reality, that our political class have become.

As I have posted on another thread on here; the politicians seemed quite ready to blame a few rich Foreigners with money buying multi-million pound properties in the posh bits of London as the main reason for the house price surge down south......but were falling over themselves to deny that having more than 2 million Eastern Europeans descend on the country over the past 10 years had anything to do with it whatsoever, or that it may be a factor in the issue that we have over a million unemployed youngsters while unskilled immigrants are being employed in jobs which should first be offered to our own kids; which would at least get them on the jobs and skills ladder, even if it is just packing boxes in a warehouse

Any votes this chancre gets will be the classic midterm protest vote that Clegg lost the link to when he threw in with the Tories. I never translates to a general election but you never know they may adopt some of his policies so we will get traditionally liveried trains and a dress code for cabbies

The cynical position of the main Parties, which has stood the test of time to date; but the time for taking the electorate for granted may be expiring.  Millipede for example,  having used the Unions to get elected Leader has now cast them aside; possibly threatening Liebour's future finances and already Unite is threatening to disaffiliate if they lose the next election. No doubt either, that the cynical electoral operations and experience of the main Parties will hold them up for a while;  but the age old tribal vote appears to be breaking down. So hopefully, we can look forward to a much more canny electorate playing the parties with their votes, those that bother to vote at least; and hung Parliaments look like they're here to stay..
