Those of us who have never had to take part in such things can't really imagine what it must have been like. Interestingly and maybe disappointingly it is not mentioned in the online newspapers I read. So thanks to Observer for drawing it to our attention, although maybe we shouldn't mention such things now, for fear of causing offence to our neighbours.
