Davy51
Being part of the Commonwealth ,is Kenya entitled to British feet on the ground in retaliation for terrorist aggression from Somalia ,considering this attack is being attributed to reprisals because Kenyan troops have been assisting Somali government forces in fighting Al Qaeda sympathetic terrorists. Would any assistance depend on what natural resources are possibly beneath Somalia ?
Lt Kije
Kenya is in Somalia under a UN mandate. And I think the UK has a base in Kenya.
algy
If I remember correctly when Kenya was under British rule it was Kenya Tanganyika and Uganda, Tanganyika eventually combined with Zanzibar.
observer
Thought they gained independence from the UK Alg; and some of the old terrorists or freedom fighters have sued the UK Government for alleged ill treatment during the Mau Mau rebellion. So, as the saying goes, they made their own bed.. etc. Think we've had enough of placing our young service personel in harms way, for the benefit of others. As it happens, think you'll find our Special Forces will have been over there advising and training in any case.
Lt Kije
Our Police are over their, Obs on the Mau Mau did you see the program the other week on recently released government papers, we the United Kingdom was not the nice benevolent force the press made them out to be in the 1950s
observer
As an occupying colonial force, the UK sought to maintain order in all it's colonies at the end of Empire era, right up to the Ulster troubles. This resulted in British nationals and servicemen being killed and counter measures employed, that wouldn't suit today's Queensberry Rules for counter insurgency action. Lt Kije
So you did see it, you can see why the press didn't print it, the truth would have hurt.
observer
See what? Notice, one of the terrorists was a "British" Somali, couple of hundred - thousand in London to recruit from apparently.

Dizzy
........ the rest is speculation. Yes seems so Eagle. According to the BBC news Kenya's foreign minister had said a British woman was thought to be among the militants who killed 67 people. Her comments fuelled speculation that British terror suspect Samantha Lewthwaite may have been involved. But in a Twitter post al-Shabab said it "categorically denies" the involvement of any women. "We have an adequate number of young men who are fully committed and we do not employ our sisters in such military operations," the group said. TWITTER ?!?!? I completely agree Asp and if only it was that simple...but they wont be just as the many others wont be either who have, are still, or will in the future continue to maim, terrorise and kill innocent men women and children for whatever the so called reasons and purpose behind their evil beliefs and self centred ways
Rockcutting
This is all about small silly self centered groups, Catholics against the Protestants, Nazis against Jews, Liverpool against Manchester!! When will the world learn to just accept that we are not all the same and try to live in harmony?

observer
But these Shebab folk, claim that "innocent women and kids" have been killed in Somalia by Kenyan aircraft strikes - so tit for tat. Perhaps they need to invent ordinance that can distinguish between the "innocent" and the "guilty"?
Lt Kije
If they did that Obs, just think of the friendly fire events, The white house and downing street would be flat, ex Prime Ministers would be in hiding along with all living ex US Presidents
