Davy51
So i have erroneously maligned Hitler for which i sincerely apologise.....the reporters of the day must have been just out to blacken his good name .
asperity
It was the US president that refused to shake Jesse Owens hand. The USA at the time was amongst the most racially prejudiced in the world.
Bazj
No they are not, they are fighting for an Islamist state, and they are not fighting oppression in their own country. The reason stated for the attack by al shabaab in Kenya was to force Kenya to withdraw its troops from Somalia.... so by your very terms to which you labelled Mandela... they are freedom fighters You said that The free French & The Free Dutch; although fighting German troops occupying their countries, were terrorists and yet Mandela was a freedom fighter as he was fighting oppression. Aren't Al Shabaab fighting oppression by Kenya? They are having their rights oppressed by a foreign army which is stopping them exercising their religious freedom to set up an Islamist state.... Terrorists or freedom fighters.... it's a thin line ain't it!
Lt Kije
They are fighting a civil war in Somalia Baz, they are not fighting for freedom, they are fighting other Somalians, and as I said the Kenyans are in Somalia under The UN. You are remarkably uninformed.
Bazj
They are fighting a civil war in Somalia Baz, they are not fighting for freedom, they are fighting other Somalians, and as I said the Kenyans are in Somalia under The UN. You are remarkably uninformed. So the Kenyans are in Somalia under the UN? Really? so the Kenyan Army is not there as part of a "co-ordinated military operation between the Somalian military, the Ethiopian military, the French military, and the United States military that began on 16 October 2011?" Lt Kije
Kenyan troops are part of AMISOM, which is the African union mission in Somalia, Which in turn is backed by the UN. I will wait while you check!!!!!
Bazj
but they are not there under any UN mandate..... so they are not there under the UN as you put it. We are in the UN but when our troops went and kicked the Argies butts, we were not there "Under the UN" just because they are in or backed (just what does backed mean in this context anyways?) does not mean they are there with the blessings of the UN. There is a civil war going on in Syria and no one is there "Under the UN"... get back to me real soon eh?
Bazj
I know that your precious EU has just given AMISOM another 124 million euros to play with.... nice to know I'm doing my bit via my taxes
Lt Kije
They are under UN mandate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Union_Mission_to_Somalia you could also check the UN web site Baz Get back as soon as you have checked, Ill be waiting

Lt Kije
I cannot prove this Baz, but I think the Americans are paying the African Countries to send their troops to Somalia, as they cannot go their themselves after the Black Hawk incident, it's away to keep the pressure on the radicals, a proxy war ! Davy51
Funny how this opportunity reared its ugly head when the Syria crisis went off the radar.
observer
The West appears to have turned political hypocracy into an art form: first they almost go to war over the alleged use of chemical WMDs in Syria, whilst ignoring their own stockpiles of the stuff. Now they continue pressure on Iran not to produce Nukes, aspiring no doubt to a nuclear free M/East; but at the same time, allow the Israelis to have nukes. As if to add insult to this injury, the Israeli PM, then tells the UN assembly, that Israel will not allow Iran to build nuclear weapons, and will act alone if necessary to stop it. asperity
Could Iran's avowed policy to wipe Israel off the map have anything to do with that do you think? Perhaps Israel doesn't fancy the idea of disappearing in a flash.
Bazj
Well if I was the Israeli prime minister I would have nuked Tehran by now..... because as "sure as eggs is eggs" Tehran will launch them at Israel when they finally perfect them
observer
Fine - so if the Israelis have them, there's no moral argument against the rest having them then; and any exchange would be terminal for both sides.
