HMS Clio helped turn orphan lads and wayward boys into useful members of society, no doubt they too would have their failures but many young boys were straightened out, mores the pity that we don't have the same facilities today. In the early 60's someone I know received a term in a 'Boot Camp' and he had no wish to repeat the experience, it certainly prevented him from ever straying again.

Great pictures :)  

 

I've just been reading some old newspapers from the late 1880's and early 1900's about the Clio and it's boys.  Really interesting.
