  1. There are also on going issues with accessibility- Network Warrington offers plenty of low floor access for our disabled citizens as well as parents with buggies.
  2. I have a suscription with Ancestry.co.uk and have found the 1911 census for this lad. He was 31 at the time of the census and describes his trade as an Electrician;s labourer He had 3 children aged 5, 1 and 4 months in 1911 so aged 11,8 and 6 when he died. I will do some more research. I admire that you are visiting his grave Teessidewire.
  3. There will no doubt be some part of the Road Traffic Act says that if the speed limit ain't 30 then a sign has to go up. Would want 40/50/60 signs up after all?
  4. @fugtifino- drop me the details please kevofaz25@yahoo.co.uk
  5. It took 7 years hard graft to get the licence- we are NOT going to blow it in one show. Baz is welcome to contribute at any time- as he has in the past few years.
  6. Presenting, Interviewing, researching, production, driving the van, admin, fundraising etc etc
  7. There will still be opportunities to contribute to the station in many ways- not just presenting. So, if you have an hour to spare each week, get in touch via the website www.radiowarrington.co.uk

    Tax

Not many cars or planes around a hundred years ago so a lot of these "taxes" are fairly new. Also, Income tax was first raised in the Napoleonic wars so is well over 100 years old- it has to be re-legislated every year! Also, many of the taxes in the list are duties that are not taxes at all.
  13. be glad she got a trial- lots of places where it doesn't happen
  14. Brilliant event- well organised and well supported. Looking forward to next year! The Indian Elvis was Patel-vis
  15. is Gullible listed in the dictionary?
  16. and.. a white horse goes into another bar where the barman tells him- we have a whisky named after you. The horse says," what? Billy?"
  17. a horse goes into a bar- the barman asks, "why the long face?"
  18. I was visiting the chippy along there last night and was warned, in no uncertain terms, by a local resident that a £30m penalty will be charged for accessing Booth Street. It has, apparently, become the chippy's car park? I told certain neighbour I was only turning around and got some sarcastic response. So, if you are frequenting that part of Old Liverpool Road, check where and when you can park or access.
  19. The issue here is the morons that tootle along the middle lane at 60mph whilst the inside lane is empty. The news that seat belt use is being targeted should be interesting to see policed- I was crossing Bridge Foot today and in 10 seconds counted 3 drivers with no seat belt- thing is that there are CCTV cameras on that junction but nobody ever gets caught?
  20. drivers sat in yellow box and on keep clear signs. Also drivers ignoring Bus Lane on Knutsford Rd whilst others are queuing
  21. 2 to start with- drivers making no attempt to slow for amber/red lights and sail straight on. Had a dodgy ticket for crossing an amber light a few years ago. 2nd is drivers using the "wrong" lane at Pink Eye and Bridge Foot. I ca accept that some drivers new to the area may get it wrong but there is an element out there who look for any advantage.
  22. I just spotted this and wondered if it would work in Warrington? http://cyclelondoncity.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/transport-for-london-nails-it-full.html?m=1 I can see the sense in it having travelled extensively across Europe last summer on a charity bike ride but fear it will take a VERY long time to implement here.
  23. I was watching the aftermath of the Boston bombings on the news and it occurred to me that it could as well have been a Die Hard movie on the box- the vehicles looked the same, the reporters sounded the same- it made me feel de-sensitised to the whole thing. I was waiting for Bruce Willis to show up and sort it out.Very sad really
  24. @ Dizzy http://www.traveline-northwest.co.uk/journeyplanner/showJourneyDetailsPage.do?rid=1366302878174&hss=rADYq126121980 Hope it works?
