  3. Just been on one of the buses in town and have seen that they are once again increasing the fares. One mintue the bus company is celebrating they are having record numbers of people using the buses, then the next they are punishing people for using the bus by increasing the fares. They used to say traveling by bus was for poor people, now you've gotta be rich to travel around.
  4. The new developments on Orford Park will slightly affect the current park area, but only in terms of improvements to the park. Any new buildings will be built on the waste land between the current park boundary near the service gate and the A49 Winwick Road. Don't forget it's not just a doctor going on there, the project will provide a series of much needed high quality facilities and services, including: Flexible community space, Office space, 100-station Fitness Zone, Dance studio, Outdoor pitches, Full size STP, 3 mini pitches, 4 new full size football pitches, Warrington Wolves stadium pitch, 6-lane Swimming Pool, Learner Pool, Foyer / caf?, Warrington Wolves academy, Community Library, Elements of PCT provision, Classroom space, 3 squash courts, Cr?che They are just a few things why this project will be beneficial to both Orford and Warrington as a whole. More information is on http://orfordproject.warrington.gov.uk/

Well I for one am quite looking forward to this years event. I understand that there is an inconvenience to those living close by the site, but think about the revenue that the town gets from this event. The last event spread into the town centre with a type of carnival atmosphere emerging from the party goers have a fun, controlled time around the skittles on their way through the centre of town to the site at Daresbury.
  6. Many local authorities have changed there logos over the last few years, look at these for example: was changed to was changed to was changed to was changed to For Warrington to change the old logo to the new proves that Warrington is moving forward just like many of the other local authorities in the North West. New logo's are created all the time, so let's just embrace the new and move with the times
  7. Great White, For your information i think you will find that the money spent on the new logo was allocated when the council was under LABOUR control
  8. I feel that this new logo is a great thing to come from the council; it is new, fresh and shows that Warrington is a town that embraces change. If you look at local authorities up and down the country, they are changing there logo's away from crests to more modern logo's, this has been the case for example in Salford, Bolton, Wigan and soon Cheshire. The crest is not being completely scrapped; it is being retained for civic purposes such as the mayors? office and civic visits. It will also remain on the new Warrington Borough Transport livery, as the logo was kept on the buses to show the connection to the council. Cost will also be kept down as has already been mentioned, by phasing the new logo in by only when something with the old logo needs replacing. Also a well done has to go to the graphics department at WBC, as getting this done from an outside companies could have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, when WBC have produced a high quality, futuristic logo on a shoe-string budget. Well Done
